Super User burleytog Posted November 7, 2007 Super User Posted November 7, 2007 After spending a few days slaying some deer, I met fivebasslimit on Smith Mountain this afternoon for a few hours of fishing. 5BL struck first with a small yellow perch on a crankbait. I got a small fish to nibble a crank, got off on the jump. That was pretty much it. Cold front passed through earlier in the day and that was that. Had some boat trouble and had to use to the TM to get to a marina. I had to start home, hopefully he got the boat loaded. Thanks for the cold ride SB! ;D Quote
BackOnTheWater Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Hey, every trip can't be a "keeper"...some are better than others, but they're all good! Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 7, 2007 Super User Posted November 7, 2007 Burley, you forgot to mention that we were only on the water for a little over an hour.....but you got the cold part right!! Quote

Super User burleytog Posted November 8, 2007 Author Super User Posted November 8, 2007 You guys are dedicated, sounds like someone else I kow. : Well after the above adventure and this one http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1169945535;start=all My days of fishing Nov-Feb. are over. Might take my boat out this weekend to run some old gas out, then it's being put up for the season. Quote
TheBeast Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Shoot y'all should have been on the water with Burley and I last year when the tm battery went dead and we were trying to break through ice to get back to the launch, that was just super fun. BTW it is an electric only lake and we finally decided to heck with it after about an hour and a trip to wal-mart to buy a dead battery and got the motor cranked and plowed through the ice and home. Shoot, we break through the ice to get OUT on the lake, lol An old clip but a good one Old ice breaking clip How far are you guys from each other? Did you know each other before BR? Quote
TheBeast Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Yep that was us, cept we were in my Bass Tracker. You refering to Burley and I knowing each other, or Burley and fivebasslimit knowing each other. Burley and I live in the same town about 4 miles apart and are good friends he is the one that introduced me to BR. We both met fbl on here, I have not met fbl in person yet. Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Man LBH and I thought I was dedicated to bass fishing lol. You guys are hardcore man. I love the accents, makes me wish I still had my Boston accent. Just makes for fun conversation. Anyway, did you guys catch any fish that day? Haha. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted November 9, 2007 Author Super User Posted November 9, 2007 The scenery was good though... 5BL hiding in the back... Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 9, 2007 Super User Posted November 9, 2007 Thats a pretty sweet looking gambler, whats on the back for a motor? Thing looks like it is just made to scream. And what do you mean cold and putting the boat up for the winter? Fishing a tourney tomorrow and there it is going to be a high of 45 with snow sqwals. lol. Put on the ski gear. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 9, 2007 Super User Posted November 9, 2007 Thanks, there's a 3 liter Evinrude on the back. Yeah, my last club tournament of the year is this Sunday.....it's going to be freezing cold screaming across Leesville Lake at 7am, you can bet on that. I'm running all the way up in the river so it'll be a decent ride. Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 9, 2007 Super User Posted November 9, 2007 You should invest in one of those fish hedz masks so your eyes dont freeze over on the ride up to that river. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted November 10, 2007 Super User Posted November 10, 2007 I wish one of our lakes around here had alot of boat docks like that. I love flippin' and pitchin' around those things. The lakes that I fish that have a few, you will get into trouble if you get caught fishing around them. I wonder if Guntersville has some docks like that. BTW Fivebasslimit, sweet boat. I can't believe no one jumped all over that thing when you had it for sale. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 10, 2007 Super User Posted November 10, 2007 Thanks Jimzee, I really hate to sell it and I may not, depends on what my mood is when February rolls around. And what do you mean by getting in trouble fishing around docks on your lake? Are those people crazy? They dont own the water.....they'd have to be packing heat to run me away from fishing THEIR dock. That picture just shows a few docks in the back of a creek.....Burley can tell you how many docks we passed while going up the lake, Smith Mtn is full of docks and they build more every day. Come on down sometime, seriously. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted November 10, 2007 Super User Posted November 10, 2007 The state guys get on to you about fishing around the docks. I guess they had problems with people casting like idiots and hooking people's pontoon boat roofs and ripping them with the hooks on the lures. I just fish it at night around two in the morning in the summer months. Some of the biggest fish this year for me were caught on boat docks. I would love to take you up on that offer. I have always wanted to fish SML. Let's do it sometime!! Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 10, 2007 Super User Posted November 10, 2007 I would love to take you up on that offer. I have always wanted to fish SML. Let's do it sometime!! Whenever you're ready, just let me know. Be sure to have plenty of time, Burley and I had no time to figure anything out....when the time changed it really cut into the afternoon/evening fishing. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted November 10, 2007 Author Super User Posted November 10, 2007 Hell, they were building a d**n dock where we got into the perch. Our rush wasn't helped when I moved up my departure by a day. Quote
TheBeast Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Let me know if you do decide to sell that boat in the spring, I may have recovered from the new house by that time. Quote
