johnbr19792003 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 whats your best 5 bass limit in tourney and what state did it happen. Smallies or largemouth. My all smallie limit was 23.75 out of lake seymour vermont. And my 5 best @ champlain 24.8 ..all largemouths Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted October 23, 2007 Super User Posted October 23, 2007 Sam Rayburn lake 26.02. All were largemouth. Quote
Fish Chris Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I don't fish tournies, but even aside from those, I don't catch many big five bass limits, as I'm always targeting one big fish. My biggest five fish limit 'not' in a tourney was only 40.5. I have buddy who caught five for 51.2, if I remember correctly. This same buddy actually does fish tournies, and I believe he and his partner brought in a 45 lb sack, 2 years ago.... Pretty amazing when a guy can mix trophy hunting, and tournament fishing on the same day :-) Peace, Fish Quote
frogtog Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Harris Lake NC: 4 fish 28 pounds and some change. Finished third in the tournament, but I did have the big fish ( 10.66 ) Quote
Needemp Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 This is my first year tourney fishing and I had 23.5lbs of LM here in MO. That included a 1.5 and a 2lbr that I couldn't cull Quote
zachvii Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Up here in idaho it is harder to come by largemouth. Average winning bag is 12lbs around here because the smallies just are not like back east. My biggest bag is only 9.63 I have had multiple bags in the 9lb range, but just have not been able to break into the double digits. Each time i have been in the 9's i have taken top 5 to give you guys a prespective. Quote

frogtog Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I remember a man and his wife fishing a tournament on Harris Lake NC and they had 8 fish that weighed around 78lb. But Catt you are the Man. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted October 24, 2007 Super User Posted October 24, 2007 18.33lbs 5 largemouth. It was my 2nd day of a 2 day TOC event in MN on Sept 17-18 1994. I won the tourney and Big Fish. Caught the big one on the first day... 6lb 2oz. Day one bag was only 15.2lbs and it was great to bring more on day 2. I did bring in big fish on day 2 also which was 4.75lbs. Margin of victory was 6 lbs. That big fish remains my PB to this day...so far. Quote
bocabasser Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 i had 34.15 in a 40 boat tourny. i placed first with first big fish (8.7) and second big fish (7.15) and i had the smallest boat in the field (17 foot pathfinder w/a yamaha 50). i was culling 5 pounders by 10am. it was an amazing day. the best part was i did it alone. Super User fishfordollars Posted October 24, 2007 Super User Posted October 24, 2007 Catt, do you think those weights can be duplicated now on Toledo? There was a 30.90 weighted in on Rayburn in the Bass-n-Bucks championship several weeks ago. They ended up with over 49.00 for two days. They came from a ways back with that big stringer on day two. Their big bass was only 9.90 in that big sack. Quote
Super User Catt Posted October 25, 2007 Super User Posted October 25, 2007 These weights are duplicated yearly; here's a link to Lakecaster on line a monthly magazine on Toledo Bend & Rayburn. You will see dates from 2001 through 2006; click on each one and read the results listed and then tell everyone here how many times it took 25 lbs plus to win a 1 day tournament. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 25, 2007 Super User Posted October 25, 2007 Catt, You are SO spoiled! : Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I havent fished tournaments very long but my dad and I had a 5 bass limit that weighed 13lbs but lost enough fish to have 20lbs. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted October 25, 2007 Super User Posted October 25, 2007 Catt, I know what's going on. I just figured I need some back up. Lot of people might think we were streching it some. You're right though, it usually takes 25-31 to win these things. Also, a lot of them won't believe that the larger tournaments average 250 boats or more almost every weekend on one lake or the other. Bass Champs is on Rayburn for their East/South championship starting in the morning and have advertised over 500 boats. It is on the FLW web newsletter today. Probably a good weekend to stay away. I thought about going to Toledo this weekrnd to fish Carrice Creek and Palo Gaucho, but I am having the steriod injections in my neck Fri. morn. so i am taking the weekend off. Running to Conroe early in the morn to catch about 5 hrs. of it. Quote
deepsessions Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 just getting back into tournaments this last year...my best team effort was 24.6 with a big fish prize of 7.8 I know a rogue stick who had 10 fish for 117lbs ...and a few others sticks with 50lbs+ for 5 Quote
Super User Catt Posted October 25, 2007 Super User Posted October 25, 2007 You right roadworrior but so are many Texas anglers Fishfordollars, 250 boats is about average with many going over that; I was at this years McDonald's Big Bass Splash with Matt Fly and t bend tex, there was over 2,000 boats on the lake every day. I guess it would be nice to supply the link http://www.toledo-bend.com/lconline/index.asp Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 25, 2007 Super User Posted October 25, 2007 There are a lot of lakes in Texas that aren't as big as T bend and Sam Rayburn that recieve the same pressures and produce those results. We are blessed to have an active Fish and Game department. The results we post and brag about are tributes to the active parts that anglers take in catch and release, the ongoing studies from groups like Lane and her husband have done on livewell additives that promote a fishes surviving, the Share A Lunker (SAL) program that studies DNA for gene research to promote bigger bass growth rates, and to the men and women of the Game Wardens agency that actively enforce our restrictions. My hats off to all of us who have helped promote the growth of the sport, for the hobby, and for the love of just wetting a hook, Thanks. I do love our states bass fishing. Matt Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 26, 2007 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 26, 2007 What's MY best limit in a tourney? That's easy - less than the guy who won! ;D Quote
