MasterBasster09 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Well...the last 2 trips i made I went to 2 new lakes that I had aquired over the summer. It was the first time at both of these spots for me. The first trip was a couple of weeks ago at a lake up in the N. GA Mountains. It was the Thursday that a huge front moved in and as we hit the water that morning the Temperature was in the high 40s! The bite was steady all day though. Lots of Fish but all slicks. We were getting short striked alot fishing T-Rigged Culprit worms. I was using a number 3 hook and decided to go down to a number 2. I lost very few fish after that. I wound up with 17 for the day but should have had at least 30 Bass caught. They were biting that good in the cold weather. As the day went on the wind made navigating our small 2 man almost impossible. We were having gusts up to 20 mph that day. It also made it feel like it was 10 degrees colder than it was. The high for the day got up in the 60s but the wind made it feel 50ish all day long. All in all we boated about 25 bass that day but I felt sorry for my partner because he fought that trolling motor all day long! The next week which would be last Wednesday, we went to the other new lake and had a pretty good day. Overcast skys and a fairly steady bite produced 12 Bass for me caught on a variety of T-rigged Culprits and the last 6 coming on a red shad Senko rigged weightless. The big one for the day for me was a 2 pounder caught on the Senko, but my brother caught the big fish of the day with a 2.5 pounder on a T-Rigged Black Culprit. The reason I switched to the Senko was this lake had alot of grass in it and the T-Rigg was grabbing grass on every cast. By switching to the weightless Senko, I was able to stay grass free the majority of the time Below is a pic of the 2 pounder I caught on the Mountain and a pic of the first lake in which you can see how bad the wind was that day. NAAAAAASTY. I'm planning another trip tomorrow to a different lake. Lots of rain up here this week with a 40% chance tomorrow. Should be interesting but I'll file a report later this week to let you guys know how it went. May Tim Tebow take a wrong turn at Alligator ally on his way to Jacksonville Saturday and be bit on the Arse by a Junkyard Dawg! Quote
FivePoundBluegill Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Sounds like you had a trip like most of my trips. Lots of bass but no realy HAWGS. Quote
MasterBasster09 Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 Sounds like you had a trip like most of my trips. Lots of bass but no realy HAWGS. Well thats how its been on these last 2 trips. Just seems like the weather has them screwed up right now. That's why tomorrow could be really interesting. I know this lake has some big bass in it and doesn't get alot of fishing pressure and we just had a huge weather system move through here today and there is a 40% more chance of rain tomorrow. I'm gonna pack the water proof gear and gut it out of they are biting. ;D Quote
