Super User Jimzee Posted October 11, 2007 Super User Posted October 11, 2007 I hit the lake at 6:00am this morning and all was a complete calm. Started catching fish right at the dock on a Rat-L-Trap and then moved to one of my favorite spots. Looked like I was in for a great day. The weather forecast was partly cloudy with a high of 71 and gentle 3 mph breeze. Let me just say for starter's I think the weather man was on crack!!! At 7:00am all hell broke loose. ;D Winds ranged from 15-25 mph and the temp dropped 15 degrees by noon. Sounds like I needed to go back and take a vacation day some other time, right? Well let's just say I'm glad I stuck it out. The bite was on like Donkey Kong!! I caught 25 total today and most came from the jig. Also caught a few on the spinnerbait and trap. I let 3 get off on the jig that I wanted to cry over, 2 hung in the brush and one flat out just refused to be denied and shook the jig right at the boat. She was around the 4-5 mark. Most of the fish were around 12-14 inches but there were a few two's and three's in the mix. Big fish of the day was 5.1 pounds. I fought the wind and the wind won!!! ;D I have a wind burn on my face that looks like a sunburn. 5.1 pounds on the spinnerbait(Terminator) Quote

Pond Hopper Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Great fish, way to tough it out! That fish is a great example of the old saying ' most 3lbers people say are 5 lbers'. That fish looks all of 5 lbs but many would call it a 6 or 7. Were you out on Muddy's lake? Quote

No, I was on Stonewall Jackson Lake which is located right in the northern center of WV. That fish had a huge bite taken out of it's tail and several bite marks all over it's body. What in the world would be biting on this thing? Musky? Turtle? Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted October 11, 2007 Super User Posted October 11, 2007 Sweet! Nice fish! I like a little chop as much as the next guy, but as soon as I start getting 2 or 3 foot rollers, i get a little annoyed! Quote
Davis Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Nice fish man. I dig those Terminator spinnerbaits as well. Most of all I love your dog. If I took my two dogs fishing with me.......well there would be more time chasing and rounding up the dogs than having a line in the water. ;D Quote
Super User T-rig Posted October 13, 2007 Super User Posted October 13, 2007 Nice fish, nice pic! Congrats! 8-) Quote
Troutfisher Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Let me just say for starter's I think the weather man was on crack!!! WSAZ, WCHS, or WOWK? I don't think any of them know what they're doing, lol. Quote
Super User Tin Posted October 15, 2007 Super User Posted October 15, 2007 Nice spinnerbait fish. Nothing beats when your burning that spinnerbait just under the surface, then seeing a big flash and the bait dissapears, then your rod is two-thirds over. One of my favorite things about fishing. Quote
