Super User fourbizz Posted September 11, 2007 Super User Posted September 11, 2007 Well guys, I finally fished one. I hadn't come up with any fishing plans for this weekend and my friend Robert calls me friday and asks if I wanna fish a delta tournament. I said sure. I had only fished the Delta one other time this year and had done pretty well. We ended up fishing Saturday (pre fish) and Sunday (tournament). We did alright saturday, I had a couple of nice swimbait fish in the morning, one of which was between 4 and 5, didn't weigh it. We then spent the rest of saturday fishing every possible way we could think of and narrowing down spots and techniques. We got on them ok, but not great. When we finally got launched on blasted off on Sunday morning, there was an 82 boat field. Mostly guys who consider the delta their home water. We got out there and things went right ;D We had a swimbait fish around 5, and cranking fish of 6.1 and about 4.5 as well as some 3ish fish on cranks and flippin. We ended up with 25 and change for 7 fish. Big fish was an 11.08 lber and there was a 10.6 and 9+ weighed in as well :o But we still got 'em! First place out of 82 boats in my first tournament! What a ball! I took some of the winnings out today and got myself a G. Loomis SWBR955C Swimbait Rod to throw my medium size baits on, and it is a BAD MUTHA TRUCKA! I love this freaking rod! I paired it up with a Shimano Cardiff 300A that I have a Calcutta 400B handle mounted on, its SWEEET! I still like catching big fish alot more, but winning tournaments is fun stuff! Quote
Pond Hopper Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 That is kick bass 4bizzle, good to hear about a young guy winning a tourney and showing that consistency pays off. My hat is off to you and your partner Although I would love on of those DD fish, especially in Iowa. Quote

preach4bass Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I was just about to type how I am impressed that you can catch both bass in both numbers and size, but I realized that all of your tournament bass were "kicker fish" in most tournaments! Congrats! Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 12, 2007 Super User Posted September 12, 2007 What tournament trail was you fishing on. Their website should have some pictures posted. 82 boats is a very good tourney. Congrats on the win. Hookem Matt Quote

Guest avid Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Wait, wait, wait, You gotta tell us who caught the big crankbait bass. c'mon man, If it was You, BRAG A LOTT Ma man 4B. coolest cat you eva did see Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted September 14, 2007 Author Super User Posted September 14, 2007 I started that other thread for a reason: I GOT WHUPPED UP ON! Robert had all of the big fish! He was on that crank bite! He pulled my weight all day LOL! I'll ride coat tails all the way to the podium LOL! In my defense, I stuck to swimbaiting for a huge portion of the day and it didn't really go like pre fishing did. Most all of my fish culled out or were shorts, but a couple of them made up the limit. I run a mean net LOL! Quote
