baboosicbass08 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Caught this fish last year at baboosic but i did not have a digital scale at that time i had a $3 kmart special spring scale, lol, and it said it was only 3lbs but now having a digital and seeing all the 2.5lbers i catch i know this was bigger than 3 lbs theres no way it was only .5 lbs bigger than the 2.5 lbers i've been catching any guesses on what it weighed, by the way it was taken with a underwater camera which explains quality and i don't have a scanner so i took a pic of the pic with my cell so thats why it looks bad and that was when i didn't no how to hold a fish too, lol. Super User roadwarrior Posted September 10, 2007 Super User Posted September 10, 2007 Hard to teel from a picture, but "around" 3 lbs seems about right. Quote
dman Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I would say about 3 pounds as well....Maybe your new scale might be off showing your new catches as 2 1\2 when they might only be 1 1\2 Quote
Jeff C. Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 whats the length ?? what time of year?? I caught one last week that was 20" long and had 14 1/2 girth' and it only weighed 3pounds 15 oz. I would have guess it at 5 pounds.. but it was not even 4 # ---- also. you can check your digital scale rite in your kitchen.. with ,, say.. 1# bag of beans or macaroni,, 5# bag of sugar or flour... or what ever you have,, just remember, the weight on the package is for the contents only,, not the container.. this will not be exact to the 1/2 ounce but will be close... fish on !!!! 8-) Quote
John J. Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 looking at the length of the bass compared to your torso, and depending on your height, I'd say the bass looks to be 13-16" long, roughly 3-3.5 pounds. Maybe the reason why the bass looks smaller than most of your 2.5ers is maybe because you are holding the bass close to you and not out towards the camera. JMO. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 thanks guys im 6' 1-2" it was just shy of 20 inches though believe it or not i have another pic of it on a tape and its just shy of 20 didn't get the girth Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 11, 2007 Super User Posted September 11, 2007 On average a 19.5" largemouth bass will weigh 4 lb 4 oz, 20" = 4 lb 10 oz. Quote
TheBeast Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I'm gonna go with around 3.5 as well, this fish doesn't have much girth at all. Quote
BassHunter69 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 im gonna say 3.5 lbs could be closer to 4 maybe but 3.5 is a safe bet Quote
Branuss04 Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I'm gonna have to go with everyone else on this one, 3.5 would be a safe bet Quote
Skidder Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 That fish is about 3 lbs, anything over 3 1/4 I would eat raw. Quote
Super User David P Posted September 12, 2007 Super User Posted September 12, 2007 I would say 2lbs 13oz - 3lbs 7oz Quote
LakeAnnaBasser Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I would say about 3 pounds it is a thin fish.. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I'd say that's no bigger than 1 lb 2 oz. Just kidding - yeah, I agree with the rest. Right around 3 I'd say, maybe 3.5. Quote
BassHunter69 Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 do we win a prize for correct guess work j/k ;D ;D 3.5 my final offer lmao Quote

rfrazier Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 seems like an on topic question. Any way to get a rough estimate of weight by measuring using length, girth etc...? For example generally a 20 inch fish will weigh X amount of pounds and above. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted September 13, 2007 Super User Posted September 13, 2007 This fish weighed 7.1lbs. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted September 13, 2007 Super User Posted September 13, 2007 Now have a look at the same fish: Quote
