huskertko Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I scored a new personal best last night, even though I didn't have a scale to "officially" weigh it. Judging by its weight compared to the gallon of milk I bought shortly after catching it, I would estimate 5+ easily. It was by far the largest bass I have ever caught. I was fishing at Shawnee Mission Lake in KC, for those KC folk, and they have drawn the lake down considerably to do some work on the upper end. I was fishing near the dam and there were a lot of baitfish jumping in the corner where I was at. I tossed a Fat Ika to a small out cropping of rock, felt a thump and then the line went slack. I reeled in the slack as much as I could and set the hook. I seriously thought I had a striper or a channel cat as much as it was fighting, but alas it was a very chunky LB, that easily set my new PB. Just thought I would share, mye heart was racing for about the next 15 minutes, and I couldn't concentrate worth a dang for a while. Quote
huskertko Posted September 14, 2007 Author Posted September 14, 2007 Congratulations. No pic??? Didn't have my camera, because I really hadn't planned on going fishing, I was running some other errands and just decided to stop by the lake to wet a line. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted September 14, 2007 Super User Posted September 14, 2007 Congtratulations! There is a fair chance you will catch her again. Good luck! Quote
huskertko Posted September 14, 2007 Author Posted September 14, 2007 I was really suprised, after I caught her and fished the area a little more, I walked over and the water in that area was only about 2-3 feet deep, so she was pretty shallow. Quote
RWHusker. Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Lets hope the Huskers have a PB tomorrow night. Congrats!! GO BIG RED 8-) Quote
Bob Kavanaugh Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 There isn't much that can compare to the feeling you get right after landing a biggun. Hands trembling, fumbling around, even when there's nothing on the line! Quote
