Red Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 we had a great night tonight, and i got some good practice in with jigs....my buddy caught about 10 bass on a rapala DT4 and i caught 14 on a booyah boo bug with a *** beaver craw trailer...plus i got one on an *** *...all bass were around 1-1.5 lbs with a few being 2-2.5...i didnt take any pics cuz golf cart was a good ways away with camera in it....what fun fishing with a jig!! i learned alot tonight about detecting bites and such...was a blast....and to top it off, i found a knife on the ground that looked as though it had sat under water for months while the course was flooded....brought it home, cleaned it up...looked it up on the internet and it retails for $118!!! now i just need to find my sharpener...anyway was a good trip and another bait with confidence was gained!! Super User David P Posted September 12, 2007 Super User Posted September 12, 2007 Thats' the best way to learn! Every time I want to learn a new technique, I head over to my local pond. You're lucky though, my pond has nothing over 12inches. Also, congratulations on finding the knife, that always makes a good trip even better! Quote
Red Posted September 12, 2007 Author Posted September 12, 2007 yeah i really pleased with entire outing...and lookingat this knife some more and the website for it..it is really a nice knife...it actually retails for $199...that $118 was the sale price Cliff Quote
Red Posted September 14, 2007 Author Posted September 14, 2007 hit the course again tonight...didnt catch as many but i did manage 4 bass in the 2lb range...three on a strike king bleeding bait crank(chart/blue, red hooks) and then i told my buddy...watch me pull a 5lber right off this tree....it had just a couple branches sticking out of the water....so i pitched my jig right out to it...BAM....2lber...lol.....but i was proud of myself for catching that one....i am really liking this jig fishing thing more and more Cliff Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 15, 2007 Super User Posted September 15, 2007 Sounds like a great pond. I love my "personal" pond near my house and always am on the lookout for other ponds in office and apartment complexes as I travel on business. I fished a client's pond for an hour yesterday, in my business attire, and decided to fish along one of the other banks that I had not fished before. Caught them on a black buzzbait and a Senko. Nothing big. One and a half pound bass, which the pond has many. I decided to throw only a buzzbait and a Senko to see what they wanted. Seems they were not that interested in the buzzbait but hit the Senko pretty good. I made sure we are having another meeting in October or November so I can go back. Only problem is that I want the meetings to start at 10 AM so I will have more time to fish but the client wants to meet at 9 AM which cuts an hour off of my schedule. Keep letting us know how you do and what you are using as bait. Quote
Red Posted September 15, 2007 Author Posted September 15, 2007 well we were gonna hit it early this morning..but a sick kid put a nix on that...but i do plan to hit it up this afternoon, so check back tonight for a report!! Cliff Quote
Red Posted September 16, 2007 Author Posted September 16, 2007 well, i wasnt able to get on the golf course tonight...the guy i go with who is the one who has permission to go there wasnt able to go...hopefully tomorrow....so i went to lake waco, which i havent fished in months due to flooding, but i did manage one dink on a t-rigged(3/16 bullet) red shad zoom u-tale worm....other than that it was a slow evening Cliff Quote
