Took the boat out in the larger pond at about 11 AM;  slight wind, sunny, partly cloudy, and air temps in the low 90s/water-88 F.  Third or fourth cast in the deep(12') end brought a 4 lber in after it sucked a  Jackall Aragon cr/bait into its mouth.  Fished there for about an hour but no more joy so I drove over to the walk-around pond.  Caught a 1 lber on the shallow version of the same cr/bait.  Started raining at 2:30 PM so I headed home.

4 lbs, 6 ozs--24"

4 lber from 8/27/07:

By looking at those pictures I think there might be a shortage of bait fish and other food for bass to feed on in that lake. They are 24 inches long and only in the 4 pound range. Shouldent a bass of that length be around 6 pounds? Anyway my challenge for september is to catch a good size bass on shallow running crankbaits. You got any tips for me?

I don't do anything but throw one; nothing fancy.  Shallow ones can catch Bass by throwing it next to the shore and just retrieve it back.  I caught a 7 lber several years ago doing just that.

Yes, they are skinny and long.  The pond owner has had the pond electo-shocked and then has followed a management plan to fatten the Bass but it takes time.

Nice fish!

BTY, your name is lightening rod (a $30 stick) yet you always seem to be holding JDM sticks ($300 on the low end)  Is there something I'm not getting here?  :-?

;D!  Yes, what you are "not getting here" is the fact that I came up with that screen name back in 2001 when I decided to buy a F150 Lightning pickup truck.  They are very special trucks in that Ford put an Eaton supercharger on top of their 5.4L engine(beginning in 1999) and I wanted to come up with a screen name reflecting the 'hot rod' factor ;).  They are very quick, running the 1/4 in the mid-to-low 13s stock.  I modified mine(as many other owners have), increasing the boost from 8 psi to about 13 psi.  I use to drag race mine and my quickest time was a 12.531 seconds 1/4 mile.  It dynoed at 401 HP and 502 ft. lbs of torque at the rear wheels and all I did differently at the track from driving it daily to work was to change rear tires(and wheels) to some slicks.  It's a whole lot of fun to drive and yes, I added a Valentine 1 detector and a CB radio-see the antenna to keep speeding tickets at "zero".

I never thought about it before but I must have started posting on Bass forums right after that as I've never used another screen name.

Nice fish Dan.  If you think that is muddy you should see some of our lakes in the winter.

Now I get it  :) Thanks Lightning!  BTY, how do you get a hold of those sticks?  All the sites I have gone to are in Japanese.

I bought all of mine here except for a couple of used ones I bought from private individuals.  If you want more info about them, go  here and here.  If you get 'serious' ;), call MBUSA and ask for Masaki.
