airborne_angler Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 As some of you know I am a *** only kind of guy,and I have recently run out completely.I was told to try something else, well I did and I now have confidence in another bait. Today I tried Baby Brush Hogs exclusively.I forced myself to fish them and ended up catching about 7 fish Total on them. I also emptied out and used up the only bag on Baby Brush Hogs I have. I found some Senkos in the bottom of my box and decided to throw them. I caught 3 on them. It was starting to get dark and the Senko bite was gone and I couldnt think of anything else to throw. I had a spinnerbait rigged up and remembered the other night a guy was slow rolling a spinner bait and was slaying em,so I decided to give it a try. I was 3 casts into my spinnerbait when I saw a dink in the tulles leap out of the water to capture a dragonfly. Figuring the fish would probably still be close to that location,I made my cast in the same spot the fish jumped. I gave maybe 3 cranks of the reel and then all H*LL broke loose. There was a huge explosion and my rod went from straight up to even with the water. I set the hook and the fight was on. All day I had been catching 12 inchers. This one was way bigger. I weighed it with a cheapo spring scale and it said the fish weighed 2 lbs. Needless to say that scale is now at the bottom of the lake. Any guesses on what it weighed? Quote
Super User David P Posted August 14, 2007 Super User Posted August 14, 2007 Great fish man, looks 3 1/2 or 4 pounds man. Congrats, I wish I could catch a d**n bass on a spinner bait! Quote
Super User T-rig Posted August 14, 2007 Super User Posted August 14, 2007 Nice story and nice fish! 3,5lbs. is my guess. Quote
airborne_angler Posted August 14, 2007 Author Posted August 14, 2007 Craziest thing about catching this fish was how it was hooked. It gave a short fight and the whole time I kept thinking "PLEEEZE dont come off" (Fish this size for me seem to be few and far between) I boated it,took some pictures and when I went to remove the hook.IT HADNT EVEN PENETRATED the skin. The hook was just wedged in the hinge of the fishes jaw. Talk about luck!! I think this fish hadnt been caught in a long time( or never). Its outer mouth area was very clean, not a single sign of any old wounds,no holes or nothing/ Oh heres the pic of the release Quote
fishingfourfun Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Nice fish, i have not caught any fish on a spinnerbait. Quote

Low_Budget_Hooker Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Way to go! Mixing it up and not quitting when the bite dies on the bait you have on is what it's about. Nice job (oh yea,3.5 is my guess too) Quote
