Guest avid Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 LBH and I were talking on the phone today at about 3pm, when one of those famous afternoon t-storms came rolling through SE Florida. This is perfect timing. IF and I say IF it it's an isolated storm, it cools and aerates the water, making for some excellent fishing. Well, anyone who talks to LBH knows that there's no such thing as a brief conversation (even if he does wear tighty whities) so i'm watching an it's about 3:45 and the sun is shining. nice little breeze, air temp still up around 90 but humidity down. So I'm a going fer it. Russ starts raggin on me about getting a decent camera and taking good pix. I remind him that I have a good camera, but am superstitious about camera's on fishing trips. and anyway, my cellhphone cam, has become a sort of tradmark. Y'know, avids fish head in the shadows. It's my trademark fer Chris' sake. Well he gently informs me in that snotty Rhode Island Yalie prep skinny azz punk way of his that for the first couple of years it was kind of humorous, but now it's just plain old. to add insult to injury he offered to buy me a camera. What am I freakin' charity case :o Soze anywayz I sez to him no tanks, but I did agree to bring my cannon sure shot. Well I lied. I couldn't do it. I KNEW if I took it I would get skunked. So while I am riddled with remorse at having lied to a dear friend, not to BassResource.com mederator, I went fishing with my beat up cameraphone. sure enough, they were bitin like crazy. Must have caught about a dozen between 4 and 9:30. Funny the best bite was at dusk, but it died after dark. Anyway, here are the pics. Taken in avids famous photo style. If you don't like, then don't look. Plus there's a little bonus for Russel at the end. This is the classic Avids famous fish head in the shadow. There was still some light but it was getting pretty dark Next we have one that I caught just as the sun was going down . Kinda artsy don't ya think? Here was the big fish of the evening. Just under 3.5 lbs. And just so Russel doesn't sulk too much, here's anothe pic of my daughter Jessica OOOPs my mistake. that's Angelina Jolie. Here's me with Jessica and her husband Joe. And of course Russ' favorite. "My baby girl, the light of my life. Jessica Lee. thanks for lookin' can't part with the phone cam. sorry guys avid. Quote
cdabelow Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 OK I'm in LOVE. HA HA ok really!!(joking) Beautiful Girl. Quote
Deb Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Avid, first I'm glad you finally got off the phone with Russ with enough time to get on the water........ Now about those pic......I've been trying to get the method to your madness down but I'm not having much luck. Mine just don't come out like yours. guess I'll have to stick to my little Kodak with it's clear pics.. Whatever will we do while you're off with your shoulder surgery?? Oh yeah, almost forgot, congrats on the fishies........... Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted August 14, 2007 Super User Posted August 14, 2007 He is pretty set in his ways LBH. I even offered to give him my old camera. It was/is an old HP. Very basic 3 MP camera and a "perfect fishing camera". Takes good close range fishing portraits, but is so old that if it falls in the drink (I can definitely see your beef with taking a nicer camera out in a canoe)...... who cares. If you have changed your mind, it's all yours 8-) Quote
Mattlures Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Holy Moly Avid you got yourself one beautiful daughter!!! hey if she ever becomes single You could be my father in law :) I'll give you all the free baits you want!!!! Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Matt, I know you are 3X my size but,.....get in friggin' line pal, lmao!!! Way to stick 'em avid!! (I would call you names and stuff but up north here, we have no need for that stuff, must be a "hey I'm retired and moving to Fla. " thing.) I have a solution. If Joe screws up, I'll marry Jess and move south. Then you'll have ME in your boat and I can take the pics !! Quote
Guest avid Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Mornin y'all, I'm off to the lab for some additional blood work this AM Thank you for the respectful compliments about Jessica. Yes, she is a beauty, but her heart is golden. She has a love for life, that is contagious. As for what I'm going to do about fishing after my surgery on 8/23. Here's my plan. bank fish with a spinning rod, but with the handle reversed so I can cast and crank with my left hand. I'll only throw slow moving baits, worms, poppers, ets. If I get bit. I set the hook with my left arm, Then sorta hold the rod between my knees and reel 'er in. Yo, if Clay Dyer can fish, I guess I can figure out a way. The weather will be turnin cooler, plus ther'es an October "South Florida boyz" get together scehduled for October. The highlight of this visit, will be a surprise (shhhhh) visit from West Palm Dudes' mother AKA niksfishinmom. It was a good evening all in all, My shoulder has been feeling good recently and I was considering cancelling the surgery. Well, I can barely lift my arm today, So the best news, was I got reminded why I need the surgery. SOZE I KIN KETCH ME SOME BAZZ later y'all Quote

Low_Budget_Hooker Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I would offer advice but you've been through this before and came out just fine. As for Clay Dyer, you almost duplicated his motto. "If I can, YOU can" -Clay Dyer Good luck with the surgery buddy. We will catch a few for you the 25th at this yrs CAST event Quote
Blue Eyed Fisher Chick Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Avid... Good luck with your surgery. My mother is going to have to have surgery on hers too...of course she doesn't fish :-) Still working on that. Finally got my dad out with Craig though. And we wouldn't know what to do if we got pics from you with a normal camera :-) It always makes me smile when I see your pics!!! Congrats on the nice catches. Quote
Mattlures Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Avid it probably ist the same surgery but I had my shoulder done a few years ago. The went in and cut some bone out and cleaned it up. It hurt for a couple weeks but after that it only hurt when I over used it. The doc told me the more I used it the faster I would recover. He also said fishing would be good for my recovery as long as I wasnt puting a lot of heavy strain on it. He said no big game ocean fishing but freshwater was fine. It was sore and a little painful to cast but it got stronger from the exercise. Setting the hook was the only thing that hurt. It maid me wince but what are you going to do when you gotta bite? SWING! Russ it aint me you gotta worry about. Her husband doesnt look that small. Quote
Guest avid Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 It's the famous "Tommy John" rotator cuff surgery. also some bone spurs, but the torn RC is the biggie. I will be in P/t for 6-8 weeks and can't do much during that period. So it's left handed all the way, or nothing. Joe, is a good guy. He treats my baby girl as well as any dad could hope. He is pretty bulked up by the way. It's all good in the hood. Again thank you for the fun, but respectful flattery. avid. Deb, thanks for the warning. I'm gonna need a smack in the head every so often. Especially when the water cools and they start schoolin up. How long is your arm? Quote
Deb Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Deb, thanks for the warning. I'm gonna need a smack in the head every so often. Especially when the water cools and they start schoolin up. How long is your arm? Long enough! I'll remind you but the shoulder will be better at it than I am! Quote
Lightninrod Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Now that's what I call a fine pic.............................of the sun ;D! You're gonna need eye surgery too if you keep on squintin' directly at the sun A. Fine daughter and I had to laugh at Matt's fist post. Cracked me up Get the surgery, heal up, and do the PT and you'll be fine...young man! Dan Quote
