KS_Bassin Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 ;D"NEVER SAID IT WAS A BASS" ;D Here in KS we have a Mr.Bass tourney where the top fellow from each club across the state gets to fish for a spot on the state team and braggin rights. We had ours at El Dorado July 22nd weather was hot and the lake was up 10 feet. It was tough fishing i ended up 2nd with 2 bass. Also I hooked up with this BIG BAD KITTY caught him on a crainkbait took about 20 minutes to get in. Quote
ivey_fish_camp Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Bass or not, its still a nice fish. What did you catch him on? I like cutbait, and now your making me want to go catfishin. Quote
Super User David P Posted August 10, 2007 Super User Posted August 10, 2007 Bet you had a MONSTER bass on! Quote
Super User T-rig Posted August 10, 2007 Super User Posted August 10, 2007 Bass or not, its still a nice fish. What did you catch him on? I like cutbait, and now your making me want to go catfishin. Crankbait. Quote
Vyron Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! whats the size of that thing? just of curiosity , why would u waste 20 min in a tournament 2 land that fish? Quote
Super User flechero Posted August 10, 2007 Super User Posted August 10, 2007 just of curiosity , why would u waste 20 min in a tournament 2 land that fish? Tournament or not, there is still a child in all of us. Remember that he hooked it on a crankbait so he could have only "thought" is wasn't a bass until he saw it. If you hooked a fish that you didn't "think" was a bass, would you cut the line? I doubt it. He probably never saw it until it was almost in... by then I bet 99% of the people would go ahead and land it. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 10, 2007 Super User Posted August 10, 2007 HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! whats the size of that thing? just of curiosity , why would u waste 20 min in a tournament 2 land that fish? Or, "Why would you waste 20 minutes in a tournament?" Ah, ah, ah...Don't get mad, I'm just kidding.... Quote
KS_Bassin Posted August 10, 2007 Author Posted August 10, 2007 why would u waste 20 min in a tournament 2 land that fish I hooked the cat around noon and the tournament lasted till 2, the fishing was tough I got 2nd with 2 fish :-/ I was near a boat launching area fishing flooded rock piles and you should have seen the bikinis on the dock cheering me on ;D whats the size of that thing? I am 6'5" 190 pounds me and my observer were guessing 45-50 pounds. Quote
mattm Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I don't believe you about the bikinis. I need to see pictures . Quote
jaskoh Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 just of curiosity , why would u waste 20 min in a tournament 2 land that fish? I don't know what I would of done in this situation. I understand its a big waste of time but I probably will never have a chance to catch one that big again since I don't fish for catfish. What type of line were you using? Some type of braid I am guessing. Quote
KS_Bassin Posted August 10, 2007 Author Posted August 10, 2007 What type of line were you using? Some type of braid I am guessing. Guess Again I had Berkley Trilene 17 pound test the reel was a Quantum Accurist AC500CX. Quote
jaskoh Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Gotcha, The crankbait led me to believe it was some type of braid because of the high strength low diameter. Once again, nice fish! Quote
Nj jedd_ bassboi56 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 i wonder how big of a bass you thought you had on when you were reeling that in Quote
bpm2000 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I don't believe you about the bikinis. I need to see pictures . i concur ;D Quote
IneedAnewScreenName9886691 Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Next time find them and have them hold up your fish like these two 'spectators'. Quote
Fish Chris Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Nice.... uhhh.... Shark ! :-) Hey KS, that was an AWESOME kitty you got there ! Did you keep it ? Nothing better than fresh fried Flathead :-) ......course that one was pretty darn big. A nice 10 to 15 lb'er would probably be better eating. Peace, Fish Quote
KS_Bassin Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 Did you keep it ? We returned the fish back into the water if it had been 10-15 lbs then it would have been in the pan. A fish that big i'm guessing would be 15-20 years old i'm just pleased to have caught and released him. ;D Quote
