Lightninrod Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I haven't been to the swamp pond much lately and when I have, I've skunked out or caught a dink or two. Got there at 11 AM; cloudy/overcast, no breeze, and air temps in the mid 90s. Looked like topwater time to me so I started throwing a Tank 50 Japanese plug and got a 3 lber right away. Missed the hookset on an even heavier(?) one a little bit later. When I missed that I one, I picked up my Swimming Senko rig and threw it right back at that area and picked up a 5 lber. Don't know if it was the same Bass but I wasn't complaining. Worked my thru the deeper end and the middle of this 10 acre 'swamp' with no more bites on the several baits I tried so I headed back to the shallows near the getting out spot where I'd caught that 3 lber. Threw a weightless Swimming Senko again but his time, I buzzed it across the 3-4' of dark water and then I 'killed' it for some(?) reason about 10' from the boat. I saw the bait stop and back up a little and then I saw the 5 lb Bass right behind the Senko. She immediately sucked the bait all the way in and then the 4/0 Sugoi hook did its job. Had two blowups from throwing the SS onto the pads you see nearby but no hookups. Drove the 40 minutes to my former boss's pond but only caught one dink there. Deb Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Ok Dan, it it weren't for those mid 90's I'd be wanting to head south before Oct for my son's wedding. I'd have to stop along the way and follow you. 8-) Sure looks like a lot of fun! Way to go, again! deb Quote
Lightninrod Posted July 30, 2007 Author Posted July 30, 2007 Uh Deb, my little boat has two swiveling, padded seats on it..... You'd be most welcome but I'd have to find some 'blinders' to wear so I could at least try and concentrate on Bassin' . Dan Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 30, 2007 Super User Posted July 30, 2007 Very nice catch. Wish i could come fish your ponds. they look good. I opted to go snook fishing lastnite on the full moon. Caught 3 snook but the season is closed. Only C&R. Quote
Deb Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Dan, you make me blush but thanks, very much. If I ever make it down your way, I'd love to occupy the empty seat. I'm sure I'd learn a lot! you might change your mind and want me to wear the blinders or maybe even a welding hat or something. One things for sure, I'd love to get into a bunch of those bluegill. deb Quote
Pond Hopper Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Nice fish Dan and I was wondering the same thing about the full moon the way the fish were biting Saturday morning. Maybe aI should pay more attention to it Either way nicely done. Quote
