first of all im new to BR.

but i read it frequently.

so anyways me and dad were on the computer looking and reading about this crescent lake.

crescent lake is in central florida and it is number 7 on FWC floridas top lakes.

It says everywhere that there is a large number of 8 pounders in this lake, which is like 15,000 acres i think?

so we plan a 2 day trip, hotel and everything.

we leave at 330 in the morning. i wake up when were at the ramp.blahblah we get on the water and we head out to our first spot.

a point where the water it unusually 6 feet deep.

no fish.

to make a story short

no fish

we fished til about 430- 130 then slept til 4 and got back in the water to fish til 9.

no fish:(

a couple missed fish but nothing good.

day 2 same thing.

overall the whole trip we got like 4 mudfish.

1 was a 10+ lber

crescent lake FL <<overrated?

I know how you feel.  I recently had a similar experience on my first trip to Lake Fork.  Don't let one outing spoil your impression of the lake, though. There are a number of factors that could contribute to the fish not biting.  Be grateful for the opportunity to have 2 uninterrupted days on the lake with your dad.  That is what should be important and that is what I did.  The catching was bad, but the trip was great.  Besides, there will be other opportunities to catch the big ones.

Welcome aboard yaHoo :-)

Hey when you say > mudfish < are you talking about a Bowfin ? ....or, what they call in Louisiana and Arkansas, a Grinnel ? Those thing are coool ! Don't get me wrong, I think I'd prefer a 10+ lb bass, but hey, those things will flat smash a lure, and they pull like mad !

Bass are great, but any other species that will bite my hook and give me a fight (especially the big, strong ones) are a close second :-)

Peace,

Fish

yeah chris i know what you mean.

mudfish, bowfin or whatever are fun to catch but i catch them so frequently.

and they've been known to kill a crankbait and a 21$ swimbait on its first cast<(personal experience)
