Fish Chris Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 So, was it worth it ??? You tell me :-) This one went 10.9 lbs. She was a really odd color... kind of pale yellow. She looked pretty old, with a tattered tail, and fins, but she's obviously still catching her trout :-) Peace, Fish Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Man, Fish Chris If I catch one bass like that in my life I'll be a happy camper. Great Fish! Quote
Super User T-rig Posted July 12, 2007 Super User Posted July 12, 2007 I really *** you! Congrats! Quote

Super User Jimzee Posted July 12, 2007 Super User Posted July 12, 2007 There is that hint of a grin again I see. Nice fish Chris. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted July 12, 2007 Super User Posted July 12, 2007 13 1/2 hrs and one bite, add me, I knew if I bit, there would be one big bass at the end of the story. And now the rest of the story please. Swimbait? Live bait? Very nice fish. Matt Quote
Fish Chris Posted July 12, 2007 Author Posted July 12, 2007 Hey Matt, another one on the Hud. No surprise, huh ? Not much of a story..... got there at 6:30 am (don't know whyy ? I never get big fish before 9 am anyway) and sure enough, I got my "one bite" at 10am. I guessed it WAY light too. I wasn't even sure it would go 10 lbs.... But I kind of talk myself down "just in case" it's not a DD, then I won't be too dissapointed. Anyway, that was #80. I really want to stick 100 bass over 10 lbs, but I won't feel like I'm on the home stretch until I get in the 90's :-) .....and then honestly, one 19 lb'er would be a biggerr deal to me than catching my 100th DD anyway :-) But of course, fishing is fishing. All you can really do is keep putting a line out there and see what happens. Peace, Fish Quote
FivePoundBluegill Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 That is a very light colored LMB and yes he looks like an older fish. Even I can tell that. If I only got one bite in an outing and it was a fish like that I would be pleased. Of course if id already been out for over an hour without a bit I would probably figure the fish wernt biteing and go home. Interesting you say you dont catch fish before 9 am. I do not get that. I live in California as well and I seem to catch most my fish either before 9 am when it is still cool or after 6:30 pm when it isstarting to cool off again. I dont seem to catch much of anything in the middle part of the day when it is hot. Quote
Super User David P Posted July 12, 2007 Super User Posted July 12, 2007 Congrats on another great fish. They may be getting smaller, but they're still monsters and bigger then anything I've ever hooked into! Quote
Bryant. Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Awesome Fish man!!! If you keep this streak of huge fish up you'll have 100 dd's in no time. Quote
GrandSlamBasser87 Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 WOW, now thats dedication and determination right there!!! Congrats on another nice fish and it sounds like 100 is right around the corner!!! Quote

Syfer420 Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Did you say what you use or is that a huge secret lol Quote
Fish Chris Posted July 13, 2007 Author Posted July 13, 2007 Hey Syfer, no secret at all. I was using a Hud ROF #12, regular trout pattern. The #1 question I get about that lure is, "Do you get a lot of fish on that thing" ??? To which I reply, "Nope. But I get some BIG ones" :-) Peace, Fish Quote
Davis Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Man I wish we had LM like that here in Western NY. Maybe moving to Cali isn't a bad thought after all. That thing is huge. You hit a 18" LM around my parts and thats considered a big boy. But at least we have some nice smallmouth fishing. Quote

You hook into anything bigger than 4-5lbs consistenly you are considered a knowledgeable bass fisherman and they are pigs. Quote
mattm Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Wow..nice fish. If the fishing gods told me I could catch 20 fish in an outing and take my chance as to how big they were or only catch one but it would be 10lbs, i'd take the 10lber. Your amazing. Quote
