Lightninrod Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Hot(low 90s), partly cloudy, and lots of wind today, in fact, it blew me and my Basshunter all over the bigger farm pond. All I could catch was one dink on a rat-l-trap. Also tried a spinnerbait, T-rigged Swimming Senko, and a buzzbait but this pond has sent me away lately with nothing to show for it. Went to the walk-around pond and commenced to catch two, 2 lbers on a Southern Shaker bait and then went bass-less for about two hours as I circled the smaller pond. Finally, my line 'went heavy' and I set the hook on a 4/7 as I twitched a T-rigged Swimming Senko(color #213/purple with emerald flakes) across the bottom. A few minutes later, I felt the pick-up on the same rig and set the hook in a 4/9. Both jumped more than once and made some decent runs as I led them to the bank. Went home to cool off after about 4 hours. 4 lbs, 7 ozs Again 4 lbs, 9 ozs Again Click on the pics for better resolution. Dan Quote
Deb Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Nice fish Dan, sure looks pretty down there! I've been off the lake a few days, motor was sick. She's back up and going now (I hope). I'll probably get to give her a run in the morning! Cool off and plan your next attack deb PS I never could get the other pics to come thru. I should try using a hammer to CLICK on the pics the next time it happens Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 21, 2007 Super User Posted June 21, 2007 Man, you have stayed on a roll. Sorta off topic, but pertaining to your fish specifically and Florida bass in general, they all seem so long. Is that why Florida strain have such great potential to grow gigantic if their diet is enhanced? Dan, your fish are nice, but with a little beer belly they might weigh twice as much. Any thoughts on that? Quote
Guest avid Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Like I said to George Welcome, I definitly have to get out and give another fair shot with the swim senko. It just has not produced for me like it has for you two. But now to the important stuff. What rod is that?!!! I have never seen anything like it. Why the extra "bent" piece after the grip. You have the most amazing stuff. I know it has to be a JDM but which one. Looks like a pixie mounted on it? Cool stuff dude. Quote
Lightninrod Posted June 22, 2007 Author Posted June 22, 2007 Thanks y'all. RW: You correct about the Bass in those two ponds. They are very long for their weight. The owner(my former boss) had the ponds electro-shocked(I was the 'net' man) by a management company out of Alabama last year. Their report recommended taking small Bass out along with some panfish as they are out-of-balance. Per the report; he also added auto pellet feeders and new forage fish(shad) too. He is managing them to yield heavier Bass 8-). Avid: Thank you for the compliment. That's a Custom(yellow) TD-Z not my Pixy(it's orange). That's a Megabass Jabberwock Evolution JDM rod: F4 ½-68XFti Jabberwock Evolution (Medium Fast, ¼-1 oz., 8-22 lbs.) Which translates into a 6', 8" rod with their patented Slant-bridge handle. The benefit of the Slant Bridge is it keeps the butt of the rod away from your forearm allowing for greater freedom of movement That's a pic(and quote above from Tackle Tour's review) of their Diablo with a slant-bridge handle but it shows its purpose. FTi is a full titanium construction. The titanium wires extend all the way to the rod tip, and the braided graphite wrap is removed in order to increase the steely' feel and recovery of the rod. -badhabit- Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Good Job! I believe the biggest I got was about a pound and a half on them. I gave up on them pretty quick and would gladly give you the rest of the 3 bags I bought (-2 baits) if you were closer You seem to be doing very well with several different baits, Congrats Quote
