Lightninrod Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Tried the boat in the bigger pond but no bites so after an hour and a half, I headed back up to the smaller, walk-around pond. 95 degrees F air temps, light breeze, very few clouds and bright sunshine made for a low bite-to-cast ratio for sure. I tried my usual group of baits. Tried a 1/2 oz all-chartruese one and caught two 1 lbers. Then I switched over to a 3/8 oz, White/chartreuse one and hooked a 6 lber from the eastern bank. Sorry for all the dirt but it's a little tough getting the heavier Bass up the muddy bank. Had a few other bites on that same bait but only hooked those three but I'll take that result from a new bait for 4 hours of Bassin'. Dan Quote
-badhabit- Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Nice fish for a Yankee......j/k...... (isn't that what they call people that live north of Gainesville.... lol) ;D Really, Good work with a new bait! Quote
Lightninrod Posted June 9, 2007 Author Posted June 9, 2007 Nice fish for a Yankee......j/k...... (isn't that what they call people that live north of Gainesville.... lol) ;D Really, Good work with a new bait! Look very carefully at my Driver's School(and daily driver when I had it) Z281LE. And, look at the rear window of my F150 Lightning. And, I was born-n-raised way South of you, down in Miami, Florida, many moons ago. Yes, that bait did well on a tough day. Dan Quote
SneakySnook Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 WTG! Nice fish on a very hot day. By the way how do you like that reel? Quote
Super User T-rig Posted June 10, 2007 Super User Posted June 10, 2007 Nice fish Dan! Your fish allways surprise due to size of their heads compared to rest of the body! Quote
Guest avid Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Wow, badhabit you are one brave dude. Calling Lightinrod a Yankee, is like going to boston wearing pinstripes. Quote
Lightninrod Posted June 10, 2007 Author Posted June 10, 2007 ;D at Avid! SS: It's a Daiwa Sol that has been tuned by a Texas reel man and yes, I really like it. Thanks y'all. I caught a 2/10, a 3/6, and some keepers today on that same bait. They come with a narrow gauge Gammy hook that goes right through a Bass's head bone easily. 3/6--21" Dan Quote
JayW Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I've noticed you posting a lot of long Bass lately that only weigh in the 6lb range. Does that pond not have much bait fish in it? Just curious. Nice Bass by all means... just seems kinda on the lite side for a 25" Bass. BTW, nice Z-28! Quote
Lightninrod Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 Thanks Jay. BTW, that was my 1991, Z281LE, a special edition that was designed for Trans AM racing back in the early 90s. Had Corvette brakes and oil cooler, aluminum d/s, no a/c or radio, all from GM. You can see some of the changes added like the window net, a 6-point roll cage, Recaro driver's seat, 5-point harness, stainless steel headers, and then hidden changess like an Optima battery in the rt. rear 1/4 panel, lightweight racing wheels, BFG R1s, Hawk Racing pads, and a balanced-n-blueprinted 305 ci(bored out to 310 ci--the TA limit), cam, gutted intake, Crane roller rockers, etc, etc. It surprised a few Porsches and Corvettes at Road Atlanta and Roebling Road driver's schools. Yes, they all have big heads and slender bodies. The owner had both ponds electro-shocked(I was the 'net' man) last year and has added auto -feeders and forage fish to help in getting the Bass heavier. Dan Quote

Dan Yes, I'm familiar with the 1LE's. I've had a slew of F-Body's! The one I miss the most was my 1990 L-98 Formula 350. I had a 355 in it with ported heads, ported intake, ZZ9 520 lift cam, headers, off road pipe, CAI, Drag Lites, 2500 stall and a whole bunch of other stuff! My last car was a '99 SS with a Z06 cam, headers, off road pipe, SLP dual/dual 3" cat back, lid, 160 thermostat, LS1 edit, Yank converter... It was a mild set up A4 that put down almost 340 RWHP and ran low 12's and looked and sounded almost stock! I loved the Z-28's like yours. I also had 2 of them, but they were not 1LE's of course. GeorgiaBassman Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Nice Dan, You need to come up to my private 33 acre lake and go on a bass fishing Jihad with me,lol Quote
Lightninrod Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 gt: I'm THERE! Jay: Very nice vehicles! I never drag raced the 1LE. I didn't run my first 1/4 mile pass until 2001 when I ran a 12.531@108.69 in my F150 Lightning. I didn't know the rules in that when you run a below '12', you had to have a roll cage and so was confused when a guy would ask every once in a while; "You ran an '11' in your Camaro?" ;D Dan Quote
