Red Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 went out again tonight...only caught 7 bass all dinks cept for this one...now....i mentioned in another post that my scale was way off...but i was reading the Kg not the lbs....so i put a 2lb dumbell on it and it was pretty close...about a 1/2lb heavy...this fish measured 20 inches and the scale told me it was right on 7lbs...it was a nice fat fish....so i am kinda stumped as to what i should call it at....what would you say?....but it was for sure bigger than the one i caught last night and is my PB...she took a watermelon tiki stick. great fun! i also caught this hawg! thanks for looking! Red Posted June 10, 2007 Author Posted June 10, 2007 ok so i have been wondering about this fish since i caught it.....i just knew it wasnt 7 lbs....not after seeing the fish pictures posted on here...it just wasnt that big...so i got out my scale and checked it out....i rechecked it with the dumbells again and it showed me right on this time...that fish above is 3.5 lbs..lol..man was i off! i dont wear my glasses when i go fishing, i really only need them for reading...so i asked the guy i was with to count the little marks and tell me how much it weighed...he counted 7 little marks....so i was like wow!...measured it and let it go...well each mark is a half a pound....so i am going to call my PB a 3.5 pounder...and on payday i think i will buy a digital scale cuz this thing is a pile of crap...anyway i just wanted to clear that up....cuz it dosent even look like 7lbs to me....but 7lbs or 2lbs...it was a blast to catch it! and i have to say i owe it all to this forums and the great members on it...cuz just a short time ago i had no idea what a t-rig, or c-rig or any of that stuff was thanks Cliff Quote
edbassmaster Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 LOL...thats funny man. At first Im lookin at that pic and thinkin " that fish is no more than 5 lbs ". I have that same kind of scale too...they dont suck, I think you and I just suck at readin em. I make that same mistake all the time...either way...NICE FISH!! Quote
Super User David P Posted June 10, 2007 Super User Posted June 10, 2007 Great fish man, No matter if it's 3.5Lbs or 7lbs, it's your current PB and that's what counts.. I told you, they were only going to keep getting bigger. And sure enough, they have.. You'll be at 7Lbs soon enough! Quote
mattm Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Thats pretty funny. I thought you were crazy for a second. 3.5 seems about right, but I don't think it is going to matter. You seem pretty hooked on fishing right know. I'm betting it doesn't stand long. Were these caught on Senko's. Seems like you've definitly have a handle on them now. Oh yeah, congratulations on the PB. Quote
Red Posted June 10, 2007 Author Posted June 10, 2007 that one was caught on a watermelon tiki stick...3/0 gammy EWG weightless...that bass picked it up off the bottom, it was just sitting there Quote
Lightninrod Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Cliff: You've got the hang of it for sure! 'Purty" Bass!!! Dan Quote
Super User T-rig Posted June 11, 2007 Super User Posted June 11, 2007 Nice looking fish, congrats! Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 that one was caught on a watermelon tiki stick...3/0 gammy EWG weightless...that bass picked it up off the bottom, it was just sitting there This Saturday I caught a 20" LM Bass on the exact same lure (watermelon Tiki stick) and I weighed it on my scale (that I calibrate often) and it read 3 lb. 5 oz. So I would say 3.5 lbs would be a good estimate. Quote
Red Posted June 12, 2007 Author Posted June 12, 2007 yeah last night i caught another 3.5 lber, but forgot to get a pic....now that i know how to read my scale properly, this one went 19 inches and weighed the same...a tad shorter and a bit fatter...the funny part was my buddy had a nice one on and it got off....a few minutes later i was in the spot where he had that one on...i said "is this where you had that nice one on?" he said "yeah" i said "dont worry, i'll get'em for ya"...and i caught it on that cast and on the same lure but a slightly differnt color...was on a watermelon tiki stick again, he was using green pumpkin...and again the fish picked it up off the bottom while it was just sitting there Cliff Quote
