msmonroe Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I make a quick trip to Lacassine Wildlife Refuse this morning ... Hey Catt, You were fishing where?!? Is that a typo, of just what the locals call it! Sounds like you were fishing in a dump. ;D - Matt Quote

Super User cart7t Posted June 7, 2007 Super User Posted June 7, 2007 The lake here that I live on is infested with gators. Most of the ones you see are in the 3-4 foot range, but during mating season 10+ arent uncommon. Now common sence tells you they are there all the time, you just see them more during the "happy time". I swim in the lake regularly, and have never had an issue, but never at night. I maybe crazy, but they own that lake at night, Im not stupid. I don't know about swimming in a lake with gators..... If I lived or fished down there or anywhere that had gators I'd adhere to an old adage the saltwater fishing boys taught me "Once you're in the water over knee deep, you become part of the food chain." IdahoLunkerHunter Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Thank god I don't have anything like that up north. All we gotta look out for is the occassional moose and bear. Unless there are offspring around, they don't give you any trouble. More skittish than anything. Quote
Juskikn Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 It all just depends on what you are used to I guess. Here in Florida they are everywhere I fish and swim, you just got to use common sense. Here are a few pics of some the small one on the log is from Lake Seminole(that place is full of them and big ones too). The second pic is one a good friend caught with the rod he is holding it measured 12'4" long. Quote
