bassinri Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 I have been useing various plastic swimbaits that are avaliable at Dicks and other stores that sell for under 9.99 with mixed results. I love th Bass Magic's Luck E Strike but am not so happy with some of the others. I purchased the Shadolicious by Strike King in the 5 1/2 size and all this bait did was spin round and round. I rigged it with a 1/2 ounce swimbait hook. What are some of your faviorites? Has anyone else had this issue with the Shadoicious? Do I need and even heavier weight? As I said, the Bass Magics are my favorite. Quote
Branuss04 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 3:16 Mighty Minnow. Not many good swimbaits under 10. Up your limit to 15-20 and you'll expand your choice of "Good Swimbaits" by a lot. Quote
bassinri Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 I understand Bran but Im just focusing on the type that are carried at retail chains. I have various types of swims that I have paid almost 50 dollars for. Thanks. Quote
bassinri Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 As far as the Shadolicious I purchase an even heavier weighted hook yesterday, 5/8 th 5/0 and used it and it was fine. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 8, 2008 Super User Posted October 8, 2008 For small, inexpensive swimbaits the GYCB Swim Senko rules! I also like Mattlures' Shad and if you can step up, the Mattlures' Baby Bass (3 for $29.95). 8-) Quote
Super User grimlin Posted October 8, 2008 Super User Posted October 8, 2008 Fathead jr. These are anything but small for me. I fish these with a keel weight 6/0 hook. I'm inexperience when it comes to swimbaits...I'm still shaky when it comes to fishing $20+ swimbaits yet.Want to break this next year if i can ever save up for a swimbait set-up. Quote
bassinri Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 I hear you grim thats why I posted it for cheaper swimbaits. I can afford to spend more on a swimbait and have spent quite a bit on some but many people cant or just dont want to spend that much especially the casual fishermen. I have tried the Fatheads and they worked ok but I just didnt see as much action as I did with the Bass Magics. Thanks all. Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted October 8, 2008 Super User Posted October 8, 2008 I haven't really gotten into the swimbait craze yet, but I have been throwing the 4" swimbaits from BPS. Quote

As I said, the Bass Magics are my favorite. Look closely at the Bass Magic and Shadalicious. They are identical right down to the packaging. I have used them both with great luck especially the 4.5" size. I have a few Shadalicious that I have caught 20 bass on. I just superglue the tears together and re-rig and go! I always boil these baits for about 30 seconds as it makes them softer and gets rid of some of the smell. Quote
CookieMonst3r Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Lake Fork Magic Shad, only $2.95 at my local Wal-Mart. Quote
