Today was great conditions, but just slow fishing. Caught this one, and a few others, but this was the biggest of the day.

Good job! That first fish has some scars on it (pike?)

Strange, but no... There's nothing in the Reservoir that could do that, to my knowledge.

Trout, Bass, Carp, few Sturgeon, Catfish

No Crappie, No Bluegill, Nothing else... (It's amazing that there's some decent size fish considering the only thing the bass can eat are themselves and trout...

Maybe a bass did that...

Awesome fish man. Just to let everyone know the resevoir he is fishing is one of the toughest places to catch a fish in northern califonia. Keep up the good work.

That can be a TOUGH lake! Good job bro. I would suspect that the scarring you see came from a bird or possibly another bass but when the bass you landed was much smaller as those are old scars. As for that lake, the reason there ARE big bass is exactly because of what you mentioned... there are only trout! There is nothing to compete with the bass for food except the other bass.

thank you bryant and supermat, it is a tough place to fish, but I've been doing great as of lately.

I fished there from age 12-18 and caught 2 bass the entire time..

Now I catch 2-8 bass all over a pound and half and usually over 2lbs.

So it's gotten better..

Thanks both of you! Come fish it if you're ever near by! I live in Oakland and always up for new fishing buds. Just PM Me.

Nice fish...do you know how heavy the fourth one down is? Just curious.

Eh, I didn't mean to post that one, meant to post another. That's the same fish that weighed in between 5 1/2 and 6 but the darn scale. It should be on Page 2 or 3 under biggest fish of the year. It looks smaller in this pic...

I remember 6 years ago, there were blue gill EVERYWHERE, Crappie EVERYWHERE, and within the past 2 years they've died out and totally disappeared..

also... Now that I think about it, I see a lot of bass in there with strange scars and scratches, and many are fresh wounds, or for one reason or another, haven't healed... I caught a 5 1/2 pounder in October that was real cut up on the top that looked fresh as in it was tender and you could see some stuff  :-/ .

Wonder if there's something scary in the water.. I remember a couple years back, there was a scare because someone had supposedly released a few piranhas in the water. I don't believe that much, but that's what every ranger there says..
