When you are using a drop shot, do you hook the bait with a small weedless hook, or do you hook it through the nose?

When fishing in open water, I like Owner Mosquito hooks and center poke in the nose, where the hook point goes straight into the nose and out the top.  In weeds, I use their offset weedless Down Shot hooks.  For magnum style or "cannonballing" pads and slop, I use an offset hook appropriate for the bait, usually Owner Round Bend or Wide Gap Plus.

Personally, I tend to use a small circle or octopus hook for drop shottin - but I have also used hooks as large as 3/0 EWG - a lot of it depends on what lure I am using and if there are lots of blue gill or crappie around that I want to discourage from messing with me.

Well i don't have a boat so i have to cast and retrieve very slowly, works fine for me!

I use a #1 or #2 Gami drop shot hook. I always hook my finesse worm through the bottom of the nose about a 1/4 inch back, then out the top.  I've tried starting the hook through the front of the nose then out the top, but the worm just doesn't hang right for me.  I use both the Gami hooks and my hooking method for both dropping next to the boat and  for casting out.
