Have you ever seen such an UGLY smallmouth? Believe it or not it weighed 3lb. I was happy for my husband. It was his largest smallie in his short time bass fishing but man what an ugly fish!!! I did catch a 2 1/2 lb humpback largemouth.

I'd prefer to stick with cute ones like this 4 lb largemouth!

I thought maybe my guilt-trip on Nick worked and you were fishing for Peacocks.  Nice fish.  I love Ky & Barkley Lakes just don't get down that way enough.

Great pictures you got there. Definitely not the most beautiful smallie I've ever seen, but at 3lbs. I would take time out to pose for a picture with it. I love to see women out enjoying the same things that us guys obsess over, and judging by those photos, it seems that you have a knack for it. I wonder if there aren't certain bass fishing techniques and presentations where a woman would naturally excel over her male counterpart. Back when my mom fished, she lived and died by the plastic worm, and she scored big with it. My girlfriend likes a spinnerbait or a jig, and she's caught quite a few big'uns. What do you like to use? Any lure in particular that you prefer?

No such luck, had to settle for 40 Ky Lake bass instead.  ;D  Besides, I can't go to Florida till I get his furniture built.  Problem is, I can't build furniture cause I'm always fishing.  I think I've missed 5 days on the lake in the last 3 weeks.  It's only a coffee table and 2 end tables that he's requested, shouldn't take too long but I've got a couple of other projects in the works.  A queen size cedar bed and two runs of cedar fence.  I may have to bump his stuff up to the top of the list.  He does have connections!  I surely do want to catch peacocks!

I almost exclusively use c-rig.  Sometimes t-rig.  Usually lizards, but I've just acquired a HUGE box of assorted plastics so I"ll be trying those.  I'm trying some topwater stuff but with NO success.  So far this yr I've caught (boated) 76 bass.  I've lost alot too.  I fish alot (understatement).   After big time back surgery I found that c-rigs hurt the least plus I seem to catch fish.  First bass I ever caught on a lure was a wiggle wart.  That was about 13 yrs ago!  Obviously, I'm Hooked!

Hmm...

I love smallmouth. but that one is ugly. It might have been a meanmouth. The meanmouth I have caught were small, black and ugly. Both of mine were caught below the Pickwick Dam, so technically, Kentucky Lake, too.

Your fish, on the otherhand, are quite nice.

I just tried putting "meanmouth" on wikipedia. Are they a documented hybrid species?

Not so sure I would call it ugly...

Maybe just kinda small. After catching a new PB I would be expecting something more like Glenn's LM...

Never heard of it.

I got a 3.5 lb. smallie last summer that was very similar in coloration.  Came off a shaded bank in about 8' of water.  It never lightened, even after being on a stringer for about 30 minutes until I could get to a camera.
