tallydude Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Because she (niksfishinmom) is always pulling things like this out of the water: Not cool at all. Oh, 5 lbs 9oz. She was having trouble posting the pic this morning and so I have to suffer the humiliation of not only knowing that mom has caught a bigger bass than me this year, but also having to let all my bassin' buddies know it, too. This is seriously going to affect her Mother's Day gift :'(. Quote
jaskoh Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Well I would think you admitting to the world that your mom out fishes you would be a good enough mother's day gift. Thats just my opinion ;D Quote
tallydude Posted May 8, 2007 Author Posted May 8, 2007 Well I would think you admitting to the world that your mom out fishes you would be a good enough mother's day gift. Thats just my opinion ;D I am not admitting that at all. EVER. Quote
Deb Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 With a son like Jas (westpalmdude) who needs material gifts? : Just kidding! This is actually the second 5#9oz largemouth I've caught this year, strange! This one is shorter and chunkier(like me). She was caught on a watermelon seed lizard, c-rig'd just like the other one. We only had a couple of hours to fish before dark so I didn't run far. Sure got to have a hook in the water to catch one. We'd caught 7 bass. Joe had two, I had 5. I had 4 smallies out of the five. We were watching the sun set, had just seen a couple of wild turkeys in the back of a bay, we were enjoying God's gift! I was singing (scarry thought) "No more fishies for me" "No more fishies for me" when she was just there. She didn't act like a bass. No big fight but I knew it was a nice fish of some sort. Just before getting to the boat, she decided to fight. She went under the boat, back towards the bank, back at me and under the boat again. All the time I'm fussing at myself. I'd been saying that I needed to retie. Lie was frayed but just kept putting it off. I was gonna kick myself if she got off. Joe netted her perfectly and I'm still smiling! Son, you can keep the gators, I'll keep Ky Lake Bass! and remember Sunday is Mother's Day and remember ...... I love you too! Quote
sodaksker Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Great story you two. I love the banter Keep catching them. Quote

Syfer420 Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 wooooow what a fish. Hey dood i got my skill from my gramps, isnt being genetically predisposed to fishing great!!! and is it just me or does that thing look wayyyy bigger than a heavy five, maybe its just the great pic Quote
Gotta Love It Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 WPD, the worst part is she had you post the picture!!! ;D Great fish and great pic! Quote
demonjd22 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I almost wish i had problems with my mom like that. I thought the embarrasment of her treating me like I was 5, or always trying to show my baby pictures to girlfriends was bad. But then I think about having to tell my fishing buddies that my mom outfished me... and suddenly I feel much better that I dont have to! Congrats to your Mom on the nice hog! 8-) Quote
Deb Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Thanks for all the compliments guys! In defense of wpd, mom has had a lot of years fishing and he's not been doing it all that long. I started learning from a pro, my dad. No not a pro bass fisherman but a very hard working dad that put in many long hours commercial catfishing. He instilled a love of the lake in me and inturn in wpd. So yes, I sometimes beat him and as you can see we love to tease each other but believe me, I have great pride in my son and the man he's turned out to be! Enough of that mush...let's go catch another Quote
Craw Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 God bless both of you. That kind of stuff is priceless. Awesome post! Great job "Mom". Quote
