Last night I told my 5yr old nephew that tomorrow we would have fun, well this morning he came to me and jumped on my bed waking me up to go fishing.

We drove down the road about 5 minutes to a small pond next to the grocery store. I have never caught anything in it big in it or even had a bite, I just take my nephew there so he can fish for som little crapi. I decided that after he snagged a small fish I would toss it out to see if anything big bites. Im not sure how long my bobber was under the water because my nephew caught himself a fish of his own, not real sure what it is yet. But when I looked up my bobber was gone, no ripples or anything so I set the hook and pulled a nice big bass, i estimate it to be around 2-2.5lbs.

Heres the link to a few pictures

He caught it on a #10 hook with a small piece of bread, when he pulled it in I was alittle shocked at the size of it, because he caught it all on his own.

Judging by the pictures I have of Michigan fish, I think it's a mooneye.

My nephew kept naggin me so I took him and my bro-n-law back to the pond, we were able to grab two more big bass, alittle smaller than the first one.  the third one slipped off the hook.  guess we will have to get him next time

Nice fish, and your nephew's fish is no doubt a golden shiner.

Yep...

Absolutely a golden shiner.

Number one bait for big LMB.

PS - No fair catching fish out of your pool.  :P
