Fishin49er Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 My girlfriends dad has been wanting to get into flyfishing for a while, and even though I have done a little (very little) I figured I still have a lot to learn, so we decided to go to the free fly casting class they offer at Bass Pro Shops. Since he didn't have a rod they let him use a house rod, which I got to use while we learned and fell in love with. So when we got done with the class he bought the combo and I returned mine and bought the same combo. When we left I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to go out to a pond on campus for a bit so I could practice what I learned. About the time I got ready to leave I was retrieving my fly and felt like I got hung up and then my line moved. FISH ON!! This was my first bass on a fly rod and man it was a blast. Sorry for the goofy smile, I was pretty stoked. Quote
cpvenom Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Good catch man! I have been meaning to do more fly fishing but have not gotten around to it yet... Quote
Super User T-rig Posted April 30, 2007 Super User Posted April 30, 2007 Looks like fun with a flyrod! Congrats! Quote
Lightninrod Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Never tried or learned to use a fly rod but that had to have been a hoot! Dan Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Dude don't apologize for smiling no matter how you look. Never done it before either but that looks like a decent little bass to catch on a fly rod. That must of been a blast. Quote
msmonroe Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 the latest issues of Bassmaster magazine has an article on how to tie your own flies, on the cheap. Maybe it's time to go to Bass Pro myself... - Matt Quote
