But no Bass!  :(

Went out yesterday morning. Conditions were very overcast and misting. Air temp started out at 50 and water temp suprisingly was up to 57-58. Threw everyhting in my tackle bag, but the only thing that got any real action were the Super Flukes!. Just the wrong kind of action!

You gotta stop throwing them at the bank.  Personally, I love pickerel fishing but if you want to avoid them, get away from the grass around the edges.

And try white ;)

You cant throw certain types of lures and hope not to catch pickerel. If they are in the lake you are fishing the only thing you can do is just accept the fact pickerel are present and catch both species, pickerel and bass.

Plus if the bass bite is slow, who wouldnt mind catching a few picks?  :)

They are really abundant in most lakes around here, however ive learned to deal with them.

But heres a tip, ive found that pickerel love shallow water about 1-4 feet and especially grassy areas. Even though thats where the bass will sometimes be also, dont be afraid to fish the first drop off into deeper water.

In the lakes I've fished that have pickerel, it's impossible to target bass or pickerel. Every spot that produces one can and does produce the other. And both species will take virtually any lure that exists. I can't say that I enjoy the biteoffs, but my pickerel have always seemed to be better fighters than largemouth.

ALL BETTER  :)

I called Matt early this morning.  Met up 15 minutes from the phone call and remedied his situation within the hour  :)

We fished for an hour or so, just wanting to make a few casts while the skies were still stormy.  40 MPH wind and bright sun by this afternoon.  Nice way to start the day, fishing with another member :)  Thanks Matt, that was fun!

Maybe ya'll need to move to some different locations, if you are catching more pickerel than bass!  lol  I haven't ever had a pickerel, but I would like to catch one of them, one day.  Along with several other species of fish...  Walleye being one of them!  :D
