Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted October 3, 2008 Super User Posted October 3, 2008 These seem to be gaining a little popularity lately.I personally haven't fished one yet. I was just wondering what is your opinion on them? Are they a lunker bass lure or musky bait only,or are they a good all around bait to use? When would you throw one? Just curious. The monkey never sleeps. Thanks Quote
VikingsFan Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 I'm relatively new to bass fishing so I'm not sure how well this will help you but. I just started fishing buzzbaits this season. I've had good results using a double blade buzzbait, chart with silver blades. In my limited experience I have caught small as well as larger sized bass. Both Largemouth and Smallmouth hit the double buzzbait. One advantage I've found with double blades is that you can retrieve the bait a lot slower. Good luck. Hopefully this helps you some. Quote
Dorkus Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 i think the average size goes up... i use them over the regular consistently Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted October 6, 2008 Super User Posted October 6, 2008 Here's a Double Buzz Bass I caught a few weeks ago when Glenn and Keri were visiting. I love DBBs. I throw them in late summer thru most of the fall early in the morning and all day when it's cloudy. Cast them all the way to the bank and drag them into the water. Use a trailer hook and the results are awesome. Quote
MNGeorge Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I like the double buzzers not only because you can reel them very slowly and they'll stay on top, but because you can reel them extremely fast and they won't wash out to the side in the current when chasing river Smallies. I like the Persuader Double Buzz the best of the one's I've tried. Quote
diver_sniper Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I like to use them if I've got fish that are really excited about buzzbaits at the time. If that's the case, the fact that it's big and really noisy will get you more hits because it's getting attention from more distance. If you throw one and they're just barely hitting it versus exploding on it, try putting on a smaller quieter single blade. That can help sometimes. Like someone else said, trailer hooks are where it's at. Average size may go up a bit, but from my experience, if you get yourself into a good buzzbait day, any fish seems as likely to hit it as the next. Just MHO. Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 6, 2008 Super User Posted October 6, 2008 Nice fish. Where is your Forums' shirt????? Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted October 6, 2008 Super User Posted October 6, 2008 I don't throw anything but the double any more. It has out produced every other buzzbait partners have used whether I'm in the front or back of the boat. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted October 6, 2008 Super User Posted October 6, 2008 I throw it when the water is really chopped up, otherwise I seem to do better with the single . Quote
basser89 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I've been throwing Hart's Hartbeater since the mid 90's. When the conditions call for a buzzbait, I throw a double bladed buzzbait about 99% of the time. Hart's Hartbeater and Strike King's Double Take are the two that I throw. Quote
SimonSays Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 One reason why I don't use them is that they're hard for me to store...haven't found a good storage solution for them as of yet How do you guys store your double bladed ones? Quote
Super User Munkin Posted October 6, 2008 Super User Posted October 6, 2008 How do you guys store your double bladed ones? I leave it tied on a rod! Most of the time I am fishing the double buzz because the do not roll to one side and can be reeled slower. Allen Quote
Super User CWB Posted October 6, 2008 Super User Posted October 6, 2008 Only buzzers I use. I like the Strike King and still have some old Roland Martin double buzzers which I think are the best ever made. Hartbeaters still avaliable if you look hard. Will probably cry when I run out of them. Got a couple of Leverage baits off EBAY a little while back and both blades spin the same direction so you can run then into cover like single blades but retreive them slower and create more fuss if needed. basser89 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Hartbeaters still avaliable if you look hard. Hattackle.com! I tried Roland Martin's double buzzers back when I first started throwing Hart's but didn't care for it. IMO, the wire is too stiff. Quote
