George Welcome Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Last trip: 30 to the boat - smallest fish about 4-pounds; biggest fish 7-pounds!!! Putting it as simply as I can: The top water bite is here!!!!!! Chug Bugs reign supreme on the Farm. You have to be in the wood and it can be tough going, but that's where the fish are. If it gets too windy for the wood on the Farm move to the Stick Marsh and get out the swimming worms, and the Senkos. Find brush and you will find bass to play. 20+ of above catch came on Chug Bug!!!!! It's only going to get better! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 23, 2007 Super User Posted April 23, 2007 Thanks George! It's too bad there were little bitty 4 lbers in the mix. I'll bet your guys were real disappointed catching those bass. : Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 24, 2007 Super User Posted April 24, 2007 So, the lure mix is Chug Bug, Rat-L-Trap, Senko and swimming worms? What about spinnerbaits and jigs? Quote
George Welcome Posted April 24, 2007 Author Posted April 24, 2007 Spinner bait sometimes: always check Jigs not so good - would work but most would be left in the brush: our brush is wax myrtle; very dense and likes baits for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Quote
Guest avid Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 George, You like the blue/chrome chug bug best right? Is there any other color you also get good results on? Oh, and when the topwater bite does it usually stick around all day or does it come and then gone..... Quote
George Welcome Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 Silver shad is good - has an orange belly which seems to help. If the wind would stay down the bite could go all day, but the moment any wind comes up it has been shutting them down. Quote
