Went to my former boss's pond this afternoon;  high 80s, light wind, partly cloudy. and bright sunshine.  Tried several lures at the deep end and then mid-pond with no takers.  Got to the shallow(3-4'), upper end and started throwing a Viva Pencil(Japanese, 1/4 oz popper) lure.  She rolled on it at about 3:30 PM but I didn't know it was a nice one until I got her to the shore.

Got 2 or 3 more small ones on the same bait and then headed home.

viva la pencil.

didn't we have a few posts about pencil poppers being bigtime saltwater lures that never really made it in freshwater form?

Maybe it's an idea whose time has come.

Did you measure the length? That looks to me like the biggest, or at least longest bass you have ever posted.

Man, you're on a roll...Keep it up!

Forgot to post she weighed 6 lbs, 5 ozs. and was 25" long.  Her head was huge compared to her body.  My former boss, has added forage fish and two feeders to help grow the Bass.

That's a really nice fish! You can tell in the last pic how big the head is compared to the rest of the body. It almost looks deformed.

Hope you're having some nice cigars after catching all these nice fish.  ;)

Lightningrod,

I hate to hijack this thread, but I've got to ask you this.  Is that Imus in your little side picture beneath your name?

By the way, nice bass.

Yep, that's him and thanks.  I changed my avatar in his support right after he got screwed.

Robert:  I've still got my wavy hair that grows long except I like it cut short. :)  Wait until you get my age and you might just be glad for any hair.... ;)
