Super User T-rig Posted April 19, 2007 Super User Posted April 19, 2007 I was fishing this afternoon and was catching some bass here and there (2-4lber) which is pretty good but all of a sudden i saw a nice fish and cast my fat ika at it. She took it but spit out right away! I kept trying with different lures but she would not take anything after that initial bite. I tied on a javallon 140 and on the first cast bang! It was really cool watching the fish bite after about an hour of trying different lures. Weight?. My scale is not working. I thought it's a pretty good fish for around here. I really enjoyed myself today! Quote
Guest avid Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Outstanding. Fish spit out a fat ika. Very unusual. I wonder if maybe you had just put on some bug spray or something that got on the lure. Anyway, that javelin thing looks awesome. could you go into some more detail about that lure. I'm guessing a japanese swimbait? Quote

JayW Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Nice! She looks like she's been eating really good! Quote

Cigarlover 1 Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 That's a great fish! Anytime I see your pics I can't help but notice the background. You have some great scenery around. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted April 21, 2007 Super User Posted April 21, 2007 Nice fish T-rig, what a pig!!! I sure do love my Javallons. Quote
Gotta Love It Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 BTW... what is that post in the water behind you... fish feeder? Quote
Super User T-rig Posted April 22, 2007 Author Super User Posted April 22, 2007 BTW... what is that post in the water behind you... fish feeder? Fish feeder? No, it's a light indicating the entry to little port. Here's a another pic with port in the background. The pics were actually taken by a guy that drove by on his scooter and that stopped just to see me land that fish. His comment was: "That's a nice 2.5lber"! I had to laugh! ;D ;D Quote
Super User T-rig Posted April 22, 2007 Author Super User Posted April 22, 2007 This is the only fish i caught all day yesterday (4.8lber)! There were alot of beds around with males on it but i didn't see any other females. 12 hours of bankbeating and only one fish, priceless! ;D ;D ;D Quote
Pond Hopper Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Wow those are both great fish, that first one is a serious Hawg. Gonna have to look into that swimbait too. Quote
Guest avid Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 You are the evil minion of the bait monkey. I went to Ichiban tackle and ordered a pack of the 160 size in a watermelon brown color. they say a 5/0 hook but I'm not sure that would be big enough. Good luck to us both. Quote

Avid, the best hook to rig a Javallon 160 is a 5/0 Owner Rig'n Hook. For the 140 I use a 4/0. Quote
