teh_bass Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Well here in south florida theres usually alot of rain and sometimes its too hot during the day on a metal boat lol, so i usually go out at night or after the rain and yes even sometimes in the scorch of noon. but i was wondering what is the best lure for Night and after Rain. I do have a ton of worms varying from bass assassins, renegade, zoom, culprit in like ever color but they dont seem to be biting on that now during fall. so which of these lures are the best for these times. Also not in the pic i have my little collection of chatterbaits.I have more lures but these are the main ones i use if you recommend any that will be nice sorry for the long story of my life hehe sry for bad quality. kayl. Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Nighttime: Strike King Midnight Premier or Midnight Special Spinnerbait or Booyah Moon Talker Spinnerbait Arbogast Jitterbug When it comes to the color, I prefer any color as long as it's black! I prefer to use the Black Jointed Jitterbug in the 5/8" size, but if if I were you, I might try the Muskie Size Jitterbug. Bass Pro carries it, but it isn't on their website. Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Black/blue Chatterbaits with a black/blue hula grub as a trailer work great at night. Black jitterbugs also work great at night. Anything that gives off alot of noise or vibration and is black or black/blue will work good at night IMHO! Quote
teh_bass Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 Ok thanks guys, i will try that tomorrow night. Do u know why everyone sais do use the june bug. and if i can just use a spinnerbait with a Colorado blade Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Ok thanks guys, i will try that tomorrow night. Do u know why everyone sais do use the june bug. and if i can just use a spinnerbait with a Colorado blade Yeah, junebug will work at night too, but I prefer black or black/blue. And yes, you can use a spinnerbait with a colorado blade, that is actually preferable at night. BUT the skirt of the spinnerbait should be either black, black/blue, or any other dark color that will create a silhouette effect. Quote
kayl. Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 The two spinnerbaits that I posted have rattles as well. I haven't used the Booyah Moon Talker, but the Strike King Midnight Special/Premier is killer! Nearly everyone you ask will recommend the Jitterbug. There's a reason for that! IT WORKS! Plus it's one of the more fun lures to fish. If you want to try something else, you could also throw a wakebait like the Jackall Mikey or the River2Sea V-Joint Wake. As a general rule, with all of the lures that I mentioned in this post and my previous one, a slow, steady retrieve is best at night. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted September 30, 2008 Super User Posted September 30, 2008 I've been a night fisherman for over 20 years now. I stick with the usual topwaters and worms, sometimes throw 1/8 oz jig with a shad body. All have been productive. I did stumble on something new (at least to me) this year. Strike King makes a 2.5" tube called a Bitsy Tube. I rig it weightless on a #2 straight shank wire hook by Gamakatsu. Ya gotta throw this with light gear. Anyway, it floats. I just twitch it very lightly and have gotten vicious strikes on it. It's got me several 3 lb + fish, (not bad for Jersey, probably bait in Fla ;D) This rig works for me when my Rapalas and Jitterbugs are not getting it done. Maybe it's because it's a real light presentation, or they are just not used to seeing it. Quote
jjbassjj Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 10 inch black worms.....booyah moon talker spinnerbaits.....big darkcolored wakebait Quote
-nick- Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 I would throw on a cavitron buzzbait right around dark is when i start getting bites on it and it works really well right when it gets dark. Quote
heathen Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Buzzbaits or Wakebaits for me at night or when its raining. Quote
BirdNestBen Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 stick with dark colors- especially black....... I like to throw a weightless senko, and a Zara Spook......... spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, are awesome in the dark........ and the Rage Tail shad........... Quote
teh_bass Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 the lake im fishing is small though im pretty sure there are no 10lb bass maybe 7lb ex-cluding peacock that are on freakin steroids, well i have a buzzbait but its not really getting me anywhere. But i really need to know what to use for after rain my lake has risen about 5 minimum no lie. and i can see the bass right in front of my house i cast with a crankbait they look at it, i try chatterbait same thing just stare at it go by, and spinnderbaits NOTHING, but yet theyre always there right outside like 4 feet away. I REALLY GOTTA GET OUT THERE!!.!! and i ran out of gulp so no more bloodscent stuff that really get em. Quote
jjbassjj Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 try a black n blue senko if theyre acting finicky Quote

MichiganFisherman Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 The best night time lures I've found to be are the jitterbug, hula popper, and buzzbait. Black. Good luck. Quote
