Davefromwarwick Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 I had some time to kill so i went fishing, i started fishing the main part of sand pond but got winded out so i moved down to the swampy area. this called for a change of bait, so after struggling to tie up a senko i found a good looking point. so i set myself up trying to avoid the trees... alright its time for the first cast, i huck it out only to start working it and find that its up in the tree. so i pull it down and cast again, it gets stuck in a different tree, thinking third times a charm i throw it again. it gets stuck again. im heated at this point, so with all my might i throw again thinking that if i couldnt get it below the trees i would get it through the trees, just my luck right i get it below the first set of trees and into another tree on the other side, i was soo mad at thi point, so i pull it out of the tree and it lands in the water with a "blip" yes finally its in the water, i think to my self, then all of a sudden my line jerks, i set the hook harder than i have before. and what i think to be the biggest bass of my life is fighting like a champ, fearing a bad hook set i pull up again (just to make sure). so im fight ing the fish and its taking line like a bulldozer. so i finally tire the thing out and get it in. so my biggest bass turned out to be my biggest pickerel. the thing was as long as my arm like two feet and atleast 7 pounds, i was sooped and jumping up and down. thats what happened. and i guess that the bass arent biting yet :'( Quote

I fish the coldest lake in the state, water just hit 39 degrees yesterday, many lakes/ponds in the state are up in the mid to upper 40's now. JIG<JIG<JIG!!! Where were you fishing? (just for the record, state record pickerel is just over 6 pounds and that fish is about 34" long, lol. Looks an awful lot like this guy below . Pickerel can be deceiving when it comes to weight but a blast to catch IMO) Quote
