Super User T-rig Posted March 26, 2007 Super User Posted March 26, 2007 After about a 2 week slump i finally caught a bass! Not huge but a bass. Caught in on a berkley sabertail bug, green pumpkin. I really hope that the fishing is going to pick up! Didn't have a scale with me because i thought i wasn't going to catch anything anyway. What you guys think about the weight? I know it's only one fish but what a confidence booster after a 2 week slump! Quote

I'm not just wonderful when it comes to guessing weight (pretty durn sorry :'() I would like to say that I don't know what ya'll are feeding those fish over there ,no matter the length, they are all healthy looking pot-bellied beauties... As Ever, Skillet Quote

It's a glacier lake with very deep water and alot craws and minnows in it. The bass were brought here after the second world war by american soldiers from italy. After they were stocked there was no re-stocking done so this is a very old population. They refuse to restock the lake (invasive species) but i think it's time for some new blood. This would be a perfect lake for smallies! Maybe you guys can send me some of those california beauties over here! ;D ;D Quote
Vyron Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 whats ur opinion on the sabertail bug? i ve seen a report on imakatsu page but i would like 2 cross the opinions thanks Vyron Quote
Super User T-rig Posted March 27, 2007 Author Super User Posted March 27, 2007 Most of the fish are beeing caught on the sabertail bug (samurai hawg in japan) at the moment. Ecogear bug ants and rock claw also seem to work as well as the yum craw papi. I seen the japenese guys cut the sabertail und then glue the segments together to make a larger bait. I have not tried that yet since the bass are only taking very small lures. Hardly any are beeing caught on moving baits like spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and crankbaits since the temp. drop. The water temp. is still 46-48. Are you catching any, Vyron? Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted March 27, 2007 Super User Posted March 27, 2007 Good looking bass!!!! Do other guys that you have seen procuce multiple bass regularly? Or is this just a tough lake to pattern? Maybe its not a slump, but just a tough lake during the cold season. Matt. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted March 27, 2007 Author Super User Posted March 27, 2007 Very few fish are beeing caught even from boats. The one's that are beeing caught is with small softplastics fished slow. I did good in january and february and i thought it was going to get better. The air temp dropped from the 70's to the 50''s so i think that's why fish are difficult to catch. This lake is weird because i see bass in shallow water one day the next day their gone. The one in the pic i caught in 3 feet of water which is strange at this time of year. The spawn starts around may until july. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted March 27, 2007 Super User Posted March 27, 2007 That's a nice football shaped bass, congrats on breaking the slump. Quote
