i caught this lady on a black and blue jig after hitting this grouping of a submerged tree and 2 trees growing out of the water around eachother from about every angle i could instinct told me to switch trailers for some reason so i did i put a new pork trailer on it out of the same jar the old one came out of so there was no difference but on my first cast with the new trailer to the same piece of cover from an angle i had tried at least twice before i caught this lady and a new personal best for me...but did the switching to a new trailer help even though it was the same thing?

i took the measurements of length and girth and used the lxlxg/1200 formula to estimate the weight and took this pic im gonna try to find someone who does the replica mounts and see what they can do even though the pics not great...i was alone and all i had was my phone so i opened her mouth and put the jig in there for some kind of reference so sorry the pics not great:

heres another pic i tried to tilt it up with my boot and bend around to take the picture with the reel and part of my boot in the pic for more references....but she was 21.5 inches long and 16.5 inch girth and the estimated weight came to be 6.4 lbs.....after this i had to let her go i was sad and happy at the same time lol

Nice fish but it doesn't look nearly as big as the one I caught Sat.  I'd guess 4 1/2-5.  Mine weighed in at 5lb 9oz.  Check her out.  Congrats, believe me, i could be very wrong about the weight of your catch.  I'm sure I'm partial to mine. ;)

you guys are brutal on the ego...jeez  :-/...lol im not necissarily worried about the exact weight all i know is it was a big fish and i was excited i caught a couple more that were in the 4-5 lb range today overall id say its been a pretty successful few days of fishing. but anyone who could tell me whether or not the changing of the trailer had any impact would be greatly appreciated because it still baffles me

I read somewhere that when bass get spooked, they release a chemical thing that warns other bass that a predator might be around. After a few fish your trailer could have absorbed enough of it to turn them off.

That fish has some great girth,...6 pounds all day long IMO.

Great job and she's still in there to catch again, way to go releasing her.  ;)

Congrats on your PB!!!!

Andrew - Don't worry about everyone's weight estimates. I keep a quality scale on the boat, and I weigh and measure just about every fish over 2 pounds. I've found that unless the fish is extremely fat, the calculators are within about 8 or 10%

Another perk of having a nice scale around is being able to show people how far off their 'eyeball scales' really are.

Great fish, don't sweat what anyone else says.
