STK001 Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I've been fishing for many years and I've had a lot of success with jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, etc.... I've always wanted to incorporate tubes into my arsenal of choices and I know they can produce good numbers of fish. My only problem is that I've never been able to rig a tube correctly and it's quite frustrating. I'm going to try the Mizmo Big Boy on a trip for smallmouth next week. Can anyone tell me how I should rig this tube weedless...hook size, weight....anything you can tell me would be appreciated. Thanks for your attention! Stuart Quote

snapper G Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 it's pretty easy to rig a tube weedless, is basically the same way you would rig a worm! I always use wide gap hooks 2/0 size is best for me if I'm using a 4 to 5" tube, any bigger and i would use a 3/0, rig it like you would any thing else weedless! http://www.longpoint.on.ca/lpbaa/tube_jigging_basics.htm (Only with a weedless jig head) http://www.kicknbass.com/tube_fishing_basics.htm Quote
STK001 Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 I appreciate it. I'll try it again and see what happens! Stuart Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Super User Posted October 3, 2008 A lot of how to rig a tube depends on the location you are fishing. If weeds are a problem, then you'd probably be better off texas rigging the tube with either an internal tube weight with an off-set worm hook (I'd recommend a 3/0 size), or just texas rigging it with the same off-set hook, using a bullet worm weight on the main line. However, an effect presentation can also be realized if you are fishing more open structures (like rock and/or grass), by utilizing a standard, internal tube jig with the hook exposed. Don't forget, you can C-rig a tube or fish it on a drop shot just as well in some cases too! Quote
