Wow what a week , Flukey and FBL sold me baits at morethen reasonble prices. got a couple of odds and ends at Cabela's in good company BOTH RONNIES and the BAIT MONKEY, the trip is planned and Catt sent me a load of stuff in the mail. Two stops on the highway Risk Kid and RW and then a mini caravan from Mephis to the Fork

I want to say something here I once said to a few freinds when I lived in New Orleans this is all about the kind of MEN ALPSTER AND CATT ARE. I hve never met a rude man from Louisiana I have met guys that were having a bad day but all were hospitable gentle men. When i first got to New Orleans a lot of people thought I was from the 9th ward b/c of my accent. I found out a lot of men went down to the 9th ward during WWII to make PT Boats and many stayed and this is when I first made this observation. I grew up in a neighborhood in Brooklyn, where our parents worked hard and never let on to how tough we really had it, none of us grew up feweling poor altough in hind site we were.

We were rich in appreciation and help for eacch other. So these native people of Louisiana are they are among the most generous people I have ever met. I went to NOLA for the first time for 18 days and saw Prof. Longhair for the first time and decided I needed to stay there and learn all I couild in this birth place of R&B. Within 2 weeks the local musicans had me an Apt. , ajob , working as a galley hand off shore and then when I got some cash together I had a landbound job and a drum kit. JUst like being in Brooklyn.

Now these two gentelmen from the Bayou have helped me in ways I can not even have dreamed of So all I can say is thanks and I will do my best to srnd Catt a Picture of my PB hanging off one of those baits

Only thing better than making friends is appreciating them. :)  In time, they become family and a man with a big family is a wealthy one.

BR is the epitomy of "share the wealth"

My daddy taught me at a very young age that you should treat every one you meet as a gentleman or lady and a friend until they prove to you otherwise. Why because there are only three things in life that matter God, family, and friends.

To everyone making this trek be careful, be safe and God bless

And to Glenn thank you for founding this wonderful web site

Hello everyone.  Newbie here, just found the site.  Looks like a great place to learn and meet folks.

It just so happens that my son, a neighbor and myself will be at Lake Fork from 3-21 thru 3-24.

If I bring a ball to the game, may I play?  Just kidding.  It would be nice to meet some of you and get some fishing advise.  I never pass up information, don't always use it, but sure do want it.  We will be in a black/white 2006 ZX 200 Skeeter.

We would like to be included in this group if possible.

Absolutely! Read back a bunch and you'll learn the details about meeting up for dinner at Fishermans cove marina each night.

Please let us know which nights you can come over so we can plan for the food.

Ok folks, here goes.  Several weeks ago I bought a Lowrance iFinder H2O along with the "Lakes" chip.  I also purchased a software package for my computer called MapCreate.  With this software and the Lakes chip I can up-load  the Fork topo maps to my computer and view them on my 19' sreen.  when I wish, I can zoom in to areas of interest.   I can zoom to about 1"=150'.

Having learned from RW and others, I began a search for areas that offered shallow water in very close proximity to deep water.  By this I mean 3' rapidly transitioning to 28'.  I further narrowed my search to areas meeting the above criteria and also offering vegetation and/or timber.  I have located and documented about fifty areas that meet all of the above criteria.

The fly in my ointment is that the depth of stream beds in inlets is not shown unless they exceed 28'.  I can see the contours of the channels at 13', but whether their true depth is 14' or 27' I can't tell.  That said, I know very well that my 50 favorite places may be some of the last places that most seasoned bassers would choose, because many of them are not located in the smaller inlets.  Instead, many of them are located off points near big water

I have done the best I can with the tools at my disposal and with almost no on-the-water experience, to compile a list of areas that, in my opinion, have the best  potential of holding BIG bass.  I am not interested in catching bass on their beds or in catching large quantities of dinks, so the list was compiled accordingly.  I want the big ones.

Because I am a very modest and introverted individual, I am willing to offer this list, almost free of charge, to all of the BFR folks who will be attending the "trip"  The caveat is that you need to have a Fork map as least as accurate as the BPS map in order to cross reference   Secondly, the price of the list is one beer of my choice

Most important of all, those of you who know that

Now that I am over my temper tantrum, I will continue.  Anyway, I have compiled this list of what could be good potential spots for lunkers.  The list shows the latitude and longitude of the point, along with a general description of where it is located on the map.  Would anyone be interested in a copy of the list?  If so, PM me and I will E-mail you a copy.  You can buy me a beer at Fork.

Finally, just in case anyone is interested, I will have the software and the Lakes chip with me at Fork.

There, I typed the message and didn't hit the wrong button.

Life is full of interesting little twists and turns.

Heres one for you.

Alpster saw that I was driving alone from Florida to the fork so he went on the internet and saw how low the fares are at this time to Newark New Jersey, his home port.

So he invites me to join the mooks.  to make a long story short, I am officially the fourth mook on the bass buss.

Crazy right?  Going from Florida to Texas by way of Newark??????   But it will actually save me money and even if it cost more, who cares?  This will be a road trip I will remember forever.

Much thanks and humble gratitude to Ronne, Dominick, and Ron, for making room and welcoming me with such warmth.

Can't wait to meet everyone,

Lets hope for Florida weather (or at least not freezing rain)

Norman, fYI  I will be sharing the room/cost with you as per our agreement.

It's ALL Good

My only fear is that one of two of us may have a "flashback"  If we don't arrive on time, Call the San Francisco police department and tell them to look for 4 old men with fishing rods and flowers in whats left of their hair.  ;D ;D ;D

Somebody's got to save you from the Mooks Cult. I'll have The Mamas and the Papas all queued up and ready to go (on vinyl, naturally).  ;D

Very cool Avid........will look forward to meeting you at the Nashville lunch stop.

BTW, RW will keep you guys away from San Francisco and on the road to Texas! Ya'll forget the Mamas and Papas and crank up some WILLIE tunes....that will point you straight to Texas!

I am excited about this trip, and I am not even going. :) I suspect the stories from this trip will legendary. Flying from south Florida to New Jersey, on your way to fish Lake Fork is one of the craziest things I have ever heard of a fisherman doing :o (and we all know how nuts most of us are). What a GREAT idea! 8-) Enjoy the journey :D.

Just an FYI,

My mom is visiting this week.  The office with the computer converts back to a guest room so I will not be as active as usual, especailly late at night.

Call me on the cell if something comes up.  I'll be keeping on all the time except for late night charging.
