Unless there has been a cancellation, yes, all the rooms are booked - and the only reason I managed to get a room was because there was a cancellation the morning I called.  Try to get into th Cove, because the Captain's Paridise is about two miles inland - on the other side of the lake.

FYI -

I have a room booked at Fisherman's Cove.  The chances of me being able to make the trip are very slim now.  If there is anybody on here that wants to go but can't find a room, contact me and we can swap the room out.  I will hold onto to the room until the first part of February.

I was under the impression Captains paradise was on the water?!?!  I've never been there, just going on a recomendation, but assumed it was lake front.  We need lake front so guys renting boats don't need to rent somthing to pull it to the lake with also.

LBH, if you have Google Earth, type in the address of Captain's Paradise.  The satellite imagry will show you right where it is - across the bridge and about two miles inland.  If you don't have the program, go to Google and download it. It's free and is really awesome.

I went and looked at their website. They advertise a place to park your boat but no facilities for launching. They also have photos of their place and doesn't look like it's on the lake.

Excellent texasbass!! I'll add you to the list.

Another note- NBoucher just sent me a Pm, we will be landing at Dallas/ft worth at appx 11 am. Anyone else flying who may need a ride, lets get you booked on an EARLY flight so we can arrive around the same time.

Art Pasley will be picking up myself, norman and cigarlover. We can squeeze 2 more in.

RoadWarrior,  I finally spent the time to read through ALL of the postings on this tread.  I noticed that your boat-mate was forced to drop out because you are unable to spend more than six hours on the water.  I'm getting a little long in the tooth myself, so six hours on the water is fine with me.  If the position is still open, I would like to apply for it - provided that you will allow a Mature amatuer aboard your boat.

There is only one caveat.  I've got a hand-shake agreement with CigarSmoker to share a boat and room.  If we cannot find a boat-partner for him, then I withdraw my request.  A hand-shake is a hand-shake, whether on-line or not.

Booze clarification required.

Some of the above postings indicate that the Lake Fork area is a dry county, but I get the impression that alcoholic beverages can be purchased at Fisherman's Cove.  Beause the BFR group will be taking advantage of our hosts and will be providing its own evening meals, and because our hosts are being so gracious, I would much prefer to buy my beer from them than dig it out of my ice chest - although it would probably be cheaper to do so.

The reason I am asking is that, once upon a time, just after dirt was invented, I was forced to visit Texas, and at that time the only way you could get a drink was to become a member of a "club."  If you paid for your $5 membership, you could drink anything you wanted.  The "clubs"  were very rare.  You could find them only if there was a stop-light near-by.  Keep in mind that I was driving over from Louisiana, the home of the drive-through Daguiri Factory, so I was I bit disgruntled to find that I couldn't buy a six-pack at any convenience store along the way.  These events took place in the early seventies.

Do the Lake Fork area laws still pretend that it is still 1975?

Mike,

Could you have read a post wrong?  RW's Lake Fork Chauffeur is good for full days on the water... unless a secondary beer run is in order, and then it's only a pit stop!   ;D  I remember reading (a long time ago) that someone was limited to 6 hours at a time, but it wasn't me.

As for your other ? about the sale of alcohol... If memory serves me correctly, a TABC licensed club (which fisherman's cove marina is) can only sell for "on-premise" consumption.  So you would be wise to bring a cooler if you desire any alcohol for outside of the club itself.  I don't know what the rules are for our use of their facilities... they may be limited to the club itself, I don't know, but someone would need to verify that with them.

Is there anything that is needed that yall might can think of and if so pm those things to me and I will try to help out in any way that I can.

Texas Bass Pro,

Shoot a PM to Avid, he is coordinating meal stuff or atleast keeping track of who is brining what.  By the way, where are you from?

Long Mike,

I think that post was from avid. Keith (flechero) has graciously offered to take me fishing in his boat, so I don't really have an offer to make. The only reason we'll be off the water after six hours is if we run out of room in the live well for all those Share Lunkers!

Regarding hooch...BYOB and buy beers at the restaurant, too.

RoadWarrior, my apologies.  Yes, it was Avid who who mentioned that six hours on the water is about all he can handle.  This created a conflict with BassMaster and he apparently opted out.

To Avid, BassMaster & CigarSmoker.  What we have here is the perfect opportunity to solve all of our problems.  If I can team with Avid I will be more than happy to spend only six hours or so on the water.  This allows BassMaster & CigarSmoker to share a boat and spend as much time on the water as they wish.

I realize that the info I have is dated from October, but I found no resolution to the problem in subsequent postings.

Glenn, I visited Salt Lake city in the mid-eightys and stayed in a major hotel.  I went to the bar to have a drink and was informed that they were allowed to sell "set-ups" only.  That is, they could sell you all the mixed drinks you wanted, but there was no alcohol in them.  This problem was easily solved, because all one had to to was to walk out of the bar, and right in front of you across the hallway was a liquor store.  The liquor store sold only six packs of the little bottles you get on airlines.  You could buy them, go back across the hall to the bar and get blitzed, assuming you had enough money to pay for both the booze and the set-ups, and enough stamina to keep running back and forth across the hall.

I know I'm way off topic, but that was the wierdest!

Having been jilted by Avid, I now pose a question for the Lake Fork Mod Squad attendees.  Despite the fact that all of you are officially on vacation, would any of you be willing to switch out with your regular fishing partner and spend at least a half a day teaching us newbies?

Mike,

That's kinda what many of us plan on doing anyway, but not spacificly to teach. We just wan't to get to know you guys. The teaching part will be secondary. Don't worry, we will all learn a head full of stuff.

Thanks to the BFR Mod Squad for your generosity.  You have no idea how much it means to me to be able to fish with one or more of you.

Also thanks for the PM.

Great News!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have finally received confirmation from Linda at Fishermans Cove Marina that we have the meeting room reserved for each of our 7pm pigouts, I mean feasts.

So get cooking all you master chefs, WE ARE IN

There are a couple of important announcements so y'all please listen up.

#1. - Linda has made it absolutely clear that NO ALCOHOL can be brought to the dinners. It is a violation of Texas law and is strictly enforced. Linda will have a coctail waitress available for our tippling pleasure.

Linda has also stated that the room is for folks directly associated with the BassResource.com gathering only. If you make a friend outside the BassResource.com members, that's cool, just DO NOT invite them to the dinner.

Linda and Dan of Fishermans Cove Marina have been very generous in providing this room for free. I have also assured her that we will be cleaning up after ourselves. She made it clear that if her staff is needed to clean there will be a $40.00 charge per night. Soooooooooooooooooooo, as stated in an earlier post, if your mother isn't coming. CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF. THIS INCLUDES ME!!!

(I'm famous in all 50 states and numerous forgein countries for world class slovinliness)

I'm confident that everyone will comply with her very reasonable (and legally mandated) rules.

#2 - Glenn has suggested that I start a new Lake Fork thread for information purposes only. After strugling with the title I decided to name it "Lake Fork, For information purposes only" It will be up soon.

This should make it easy to get the essential information required. NO REPLIES are permitted on that thread. All comments, suggestions, requests, complaints, and whining should be made here on THIS thread. This will make it much easier for me and the mods to ignore. ;)

Seriously, Anyone considering joining us at the fork as well as those already signed up will appreciate a concise place to access relevant information.

Well that's it for now all you dudes and dudettes.

Oh, one other thing. You Texas wranglers familiar with the fork and it's surroundings can be really helpful.

Please PM me or just post on THIS thread, area tourist attractions, guides known for integrity and fishing ability, lodging with overnight docking (the closer to fishermans cove the better), good area bait or tackle shops. Bordello's (PM only ;)) and anything else you can you can think of that might make a trip to your area more enjoyable for out of staters.

I have alot of this information but it is off of internet sources. I would hate to list a guide for example who can't find his way out of bed. You get the picture.

Thanks to all.

This actually looks like it's going to be a GREAT TIME.

IT is NOT closed. So C'Mon down.

I'm sure Alpster can find an extra pig knucle or two and when it's comes to Muddyman's meatballs - FUGGEDABOUDIT
