BASS fisherman Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I talked to Linda todayaround 3pm, from Fisherman's cove Marina. There is ONE room open for rent. Again, JUST ONE ROOM IS STILL AVAILABLE!! Linda Borchard Fisherman's Cove Marina 903-765-2943 fishcove@lcii.net
SUZY-Q Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 MattFly, T-Bend got about 13 inches. It's up to my catwalk!!! No more bogging through the mud to get to the boat. Still got to watch for those stumps and floating timber though. At this point, we are happy to get any rain at all.
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 19, 2006 Super User Posted October 19, 2006 Looks like T Bend is getting more earlier this morning, its missing most of the DFW area today. Some is better than none. Matt.
RiskKid. Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 For those of you flying in.....GOOD NEWS! I just went to Southwest Airlines website and they can now fly to Love Field in Dallas from anywhere. They say they are going to post up to date schedules later today. I was playing around with flights and it looks like this will change my airfare from Nashville to Dallas from about $400 to $200 round trip. Gotta run.......just got a phone call from the Bait Monkey ;D ;D ;D
BASS fisherman Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 If anyone still reads this thread, I've got a couple questions. Of those who are going to Fork, who is getting a guide? And also for those that are going, who has fished Lake Fork before, and how much? Just curious as to what kind of fishing can be expected.
Super User Alpster Posted October 19, 2006 Super User Posted October 19, 2006 Guide - yessss! Fork - nope. Ronnie
Lane Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 BASS fisherman, You will be fishing with a professional angler. He has caught several 8 to 10lb bass on Fork. I think you will probably do pretty darned good!
BASS fisherman Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 BASS fisherman, You will be fishing with a professional angler. He has caught several 8 to 10lb bass on Fork. I think you will probably do pretty darned good! Ssssshhhhhhhhh I know that, but everyone else doesn't, well now they do. I was trying to set a few bets up, but now my cover is blown. ;D just kidding. This trip will be great, I just can't wait. Is it time yet? I am trying to get Glenn to give up one of those Bass Resource tournament shirts to the angler who catches the biggest bass though. He is considering it.
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted October 20, 2006 Author Posted October 20, 2006 I am trying to get Glenn to give up one of those Bass Resource tournament shirts to the angler who catches the biggest bass though. He is considering it. The shirt idea is great in priciple if this were a site that made money but seeing how much time, energy and MONEY it already costs him to keep this up and running, another $100 out of his pocket is too much. I suggest WE all bring GLENN a shirt from your homestate or fishing team or whatever.
BASS fisherman Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Since LBH is right about the money issue, what if we do a Lunker pool for whoever wants to fish for the shirt would throw in some money. Then the shirt wouldn't come out of Glenn's pocket. If 10 people want to fish for it, then 10 a piece. If only 5 want to fish for the shirt, it'd be 20 a piece, so on and so on. What do you folks think? I don't know about yall, but I really want one of those awesome shirts, but I honestly don't have the moola. I'd love to represent Bass Resource when I fish my club tournaments. Is there an interest?
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 20, 2006 Super User Posted October 20, 2006 I fish Fork every once in awhile, and have used guides once in awhile. Gas was killing me, the 30 minute drive cut me back to twice a week this summer. To aide my fellow bretheren, LBH, and his posse last year, Willie and myself spent about a week straight last year prior to Russ coming down. We recieved massive rains weeks prior to all the warming trends that sent the bass shallow. Willie and I covered all the west arm and was just searching the east arm for warmer water and staging fish. Ideally, out of staters coming to Fork for the spawn should look at late March and early April to ensure bedding fish can be found. As it turned out last year, 97% of the lake got run off that cooled the temps down and put a halt on the beds, it was about a week later that the temps started to warm again. In April, you can bet that 85% of the lake has beds going and giving guys lots of areas to hit. Russ and company was sharing the 3% of water with hundreds of boats packed into an sardine can. You could go ashore by asking other boat captains, Permission to cross over? by walking from boat to boat. LOL. Matt.
Keithscatch Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 30 min drive Matt? You sure lived closer then I did. I used to live in Lewisville so I was driving 80 miles one way to go there. But then again back then gas only cost a little over a dollar a gallon I think. Time sure have changed. Greedy OPEC saw the oil prices going down to low so they cut back on production to start the oil prices going back up. &%@##*$ Anyway, I have never seen March not have bass on beds overthere. In fact allot of bass are finished spawning by end of March normally. But you have to start way up in the West arm at the top of the lake or Glade in the upper east arm. But if they are not on the beds they will be out around the timber close by and still catchable. I prefer that anyway over them sitting on their beds. Andy, man your money is burning a hole in your pants ;D ;D Remember Fork is a slot lake. So if you guys do put a big fish tourney there you will have to abide by the slot. 16"-24" I believe. Anything in that size has to go back. But if you do a paper tournament then anything goes. What if we do a Florida VS you members going to Fork? Seems there will be plenty of us from Florida still here and we can compete against you Texans or Snow bird Texans for the week. We get to fish the Stick Marsh and you guys get to fish Fork. NO money just a bragging right thing. Sound good?
Lane Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 We are going to have a Texas vs Florida big bass contest on our boat. I am a Texan and my husband is a transplant from Florida. He has the advantage of fishing for bass in Florida when he was growing up. My advantage is PATIENCE and DETERMINATION! Any bets on which one of us will get the bragging rights?
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted October 20, 2006 Author Posted October 20, 2006 BOTH!! Trick question. You are married so 1/2 of your braggin' rights are his and 1/2 of his are yours! It's a win/win situation
Guest avid Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Just a note - I know it was mentioned 6 pages ago, but just a reminder that this is NOT a tournament. Just a fun get -together and a chance to meet the fine folks on these forums. This is going to be GREAT! Let's stay focused OK
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted October 21, 2006 Author Posted October 21, 2006 So,....no Matt_Fly in a skirt?
tipptruck1 Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Well guys if I you guys are going in a couple of years I will be there.

Not a touney Keith, just something that the people who want to, can take part of and throw in money towards a shirt, and whoever gets the biggest bass, gets the shirt. More or less of a lunker pool. If anyone shows any interest whatsoever, even just 2-3 people, I will set something up. Maybe a pic has to be taken, and a witness has to be there to see the bass, before it is released. Not sure how it would work yet, but as of yet, no one except myself has shown any interest in this contest.
Super User Gatorbassman Posted October 21, 2006 Super User Posted October 21, 2006 BASS fisherman, You can set it up when you get there but do not set it up on this forum. This is a trip for fun and that is what it is going to stay. I think the shirt looks the best on me.
BASS fisherman Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 We'll just have to see after I get mine. 8-) I better shutup before I jinx myself. I might end up getting skunked.
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted October 29, 2006 Author Posted October 29, 2006 Update. Brent Bollinger from *** will be coming as well. He will be staying with Dirk and I and will be bringing his Triton so there will be an extra seat available on Mine and dirks boat on certain days. WOOHOOO Brent is just another of the main people I have been wanting to meet from the board. This is great. I buy alot of plastic from Brent and he had made a suggestion to me that he bring me this yrs plastics to Fork, will save me about $60-$70 later in shipping. Just a thought, if anyone also buys in bulk from him, he would be happy to do the same for you I'm sure. Man, as it gets colder and colder here in New England, I just remind myself that the colder it gets, the closer we are to Fork. In New England, we concentrate hard on keeping that glass 1/2 full during the winter, lol. CAN'T WAIT!!!

Super User Gatorbassman Posted October 29, 2006 Super User Posted October 29, 2006 I read matt's post about the beans and potato salad not making the party. This is true ONLY because you guys changed the dinner location without telling me. I had the beans, potato salad, and 2 homemade coconut pies in my room ready to go. You guys split. I have ben ditched before so no big deal but don't crybaby about your own doings! Have a good trip. 8-) You tell em BC. That just ain't right.
