vicdotcom Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Hey all, Here is one of mine that got away. Any ideas on how large it was? That was a 1/2 ounce 3 inch rattle trap on its lips. I was being dumb and didnt check the knots after casting for a while. It was impressive watching it try to throw the hook after it was back in the water though. Vic Quote
senko_77 Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 couldn't tell you the weight, but i can tell you that the picture you took is INCREDIBLE. i would freak out if i snapped a paloroid like that. you should have that printed and framed. i cant get over it lol. as far as guessin, its near impossible to see a fish's girth in the water. you can only see length, and most fish get smaller as there in the water. if i had to guess, i would say it would be safe to say the fish wasn't under 3 or 4lbs once again, incredible picture. how did you do that? was it slowly swimmin away and you whipped out the camera a snapped it? mad mad props man Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 21, 2007 Super User Posted March 21, 2007 My estimate put it at about 25". A beast no doubt. Sorry about the fish, but cool pic. Quote

Gotta Love It Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 incredible pic dude....as far as the fish....jus 1 more reason to get back out there an hunt him out ;D Hopefully you catch him before he loses the trap !!! Truly difficult to determine the size but a great pic!!! Quote
vicdotcom Posted March 21, 2007 Author Posted March 21, 2007 Well as far as the fish, Everytime I tell the story naturally the fish gets bigger haha. But this picture is my proof if anyone asks of it. I got the pic because, after the knot slipped, I was upset and was putting my camera away. That is when the fish started jumping out the water at least a foot and a half trying to throw the hook out. After the second time it tried, I got my camera ready and watched it head off behind that bush for cover. When it settled I snapped the picture. It was a fun fish that was for sure. I love the pic because you can see most of the coloration of the fish even through the water. I certainly got lucky, if not with the fish than with the picture and the story. Vic Quote
Pond Hopper Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Looks like a healthy 4-5 lber. One thing I have realized is the fish always look bigger under water but that doesnt take away from it being a nice fish and a hell of a picture. Quote
