SneakySnook Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Went out today and had a great day. Well not a great day but I caught a great fish. Went out for a few hours to try out the baby paca craw for the first time. I guess it was a great way to start with it. In the first 5 minutes I ended up catching a nice 24.5" bass. When I grabbed her the hook feel right out of it's mouth. I caught 2 other fish only about 1lb each but now I have a new favorite craw. I also caught 1 2lb bass on a swimming senko and had another brake my line. Here's some pics. How much do you think it weighs? I did the weight calculator and at 24.5" and 16" it came out to 9.4. But I'm not sure if it was 16" around it might have been bigger. I forgot to check to see how big around it was. I know what a idiot I am but I was so excited I wasn't thinking about it. Quote
flippin4it. Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Great fish. Whats the combo your using? Looks like a Diawa of some sort and I could'nt make out the make of the rod. Red line is Cajun? Quote
Supermat Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Awesome fish! BTW, nice reelgrips, same color i choose to use, they're awesome! Quote

The reel is a daiwa zillion with red 15lb power pro and the rod is a Dudley rod. It's a custom made g-loomis imx mbr844 blank with sic titanium guides. You can check his rods out at dudleyrods.com. Supermat I agree the reel grips are awesome. I like them so much I went and got another pair for my other reel. Quote
Lightninrod Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 SS: Great Bass and those PCs have been good to me too. Get a scale . Dan Quote
Bassassasin12 Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Awesome fish. The first picture I think makes the fish look smaller but the other two make it look like a real good fish. It's hard to guess the weight. I am with lightningrod...don't forget a scale! Quote
Guest avid Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Beautiful fish. Don't you find the 15 lb Powr pro digs into the spool? I can't use anything less than 50 without problems. Quote
VAbass_slayer Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 i donno how much this helps since i dont have a girth measurement but two years ago i was fishing with my cousin when he caught one that was exactly 24" and was a hair over 7lbs. his fish looked very similar to yours, with a big belly but since it was caught in early june the belly seemed to be empty (guess she had just layed eggs). she looked fat but the "fatness" seemed to come from an empty belly. i would guess your fish to be somewhere near the 8-9lb mark Quote

Avid I have never had any problems with it digging into the spool. I use 10lb power pro on my accurist and 20lb on my calcutta and have never had a problem so guess I've been luck. Quote
