got my first bass of the year on friday. i had to travel 3 hours to a lake that had water temps in the 50's to get them though :D. i fished silver lake friday and sturday, and if you live in WA you know about this lake. on friday the weather was perfect! sunny and almost 70*.....but no fish. i wake up saturday to choppy water and overcast skys. i head over to a point that is covered with trees that have fallen in the water. i through my jig next to a tree in about 4' of water and all of a sudden my line is coming straight at me! i set the hook and about 5 seconds later i have a nice 4lb 5oz largie in the boat 8-). after fishing the timber with no more hits, i decided it's time to head towards the canals. i start pitching the overwhelming amount of bushes and after about an hour hook into a nice 3lb 10oz bucket. then not 15 minutes later i hook into a tubby 3lber. and again about 15 minutes later my got his first fish of the year, a scrappy 15"er. it was a great way to start the year! oh, all fish were caught on 3/8oz black/purple skinny bear jigs w/KGM craws.

Nice fish ck14. Those are some good ones! You are lucky that they are "up shallow" Though. We got at least a month til spawn is anywhere in the picture :'(

spawning isn't coming any time soon around here either. this lake is freaky shallow so it warms up very fast. but most of the lakes won't see spawners till may  :'(.
