I fished a big open tournament today. It was a team format that went out of Ky.Dam.160 boats, there would have been about 300 but it was cold this morning.

I met a forum member last Sunday,Dink. We fished on Barkley and he helped me get some confidence up with a jerkbait.I had a BFL meltdown the Saturday before(3 fish at 13lbs. 5oz.by 11:00am and that was it).I lost the jig bite due to the fish suspending. The jerkbait ended up being the ticket. Thanks Dink!

So,this morning I had a "right and a left" to throw at em'.My pattern proved itself, but there were some guys from Tennesse that had the real pattern.I ended up with 20-15.Had a nice 6-3 to help kick it up!Caught her on a jerkbait!New JB PB! :D

I knew I had a good bag,but I also knew there were going to be some better.I ended up 11th.Oh yeah...the winning bag was 27 1/2 lbs.Oh yeah.....RW....they were all brownfish! :o

Overall what a great tournament.Ky.Lake is back!I guess I will be buying a Tennesse license now so I can try to catch a new PB SM! Chris

20-15 is a nice bag of fish anywhere man.  That's awesome.  Kentucky Lake has been bringing in some huge winning weights so far this year.  That's the second time I've heard of a winning weight close to 30 lbs.  Sounds like it's going to be a great year down there.  Congrats on the good day.  I'll be down in less than 3 weeks, can't wait.

Thanks, Chris.  Hey man, even though the bite was tough, I had a blast fishing with you.  Thanks for having me out there!  You are very welcome for the jerkbait thing... you had the technique, all I provided was the vote of confidence in the form of a 3+ LM ;D.

I bought an annual license... I will be back! ;)

Good work, CJ.  Not bad at all.  Sounds like KY Lake is hopping this year.  Were yours all smallies, or was the winning bag all smallies?
