cpvenom Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Today was my second time fishing this year. While the fishing was slow, my patience payed off. I was fishing a Tiki Stik near some submerged branches from the bank. Watching my line, I noticed a very slight pause in the lure's decent. I set the hook and started dragging in what felt like a small bass. The fish took me by surprise and darted with a strong burst of power into some branches, which took a second to navigate it out of. When I got it out of the snag, it was not fighting at all and i thought it had gotten off. Another few quick, strong bursts of power and some cranks of the reel, and I was surpirsed to find a 5 pounder at my feet. She had put up a very good fight, but only in short bursts, which led me to belive it was just a tenacious 2-3 pounder. After a kiss and a quick weight mesurement, I placed her back into the water with my finger in her mouth and waved her back and forth until she was able to let go of my thumb and swim away (not before splashing my in the face/chest with cold water). Considering that a cold front just moved through, I think this year will be a good bassin year for me. Quote
