craigaria Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I took two of my buddys out and did the live bait thing. They fish the same lake as me and they usually have a hard time catching fish out there. It was nice to put them on some fish! They were jumping up and down and high fiving all day ;D We boated 21 fish, the biggest was 7 1/2 lbs. I considered it my firt sucessfull trip guiding, unpaid though : Quote
Super User T-rig Posted March 4, 2007 Super User Posted March 4, 2007 Very nice fish! Water temp. here is 47 (surface) and the air temp. around 65 (daytime). This should be pretty good weather to catch some fish but i got skunked yesterday! I was catching more fish in the real cold weather than now! Don't know what's going on! Quote

craigaria Posted March 4, 2007 Author Posted March 4, 2007 The water temp last sunday was 52. The live bait bite is dying down with the warmer temps. The last few trips out this past week we did well fishing rattletraps and jerkbaits. This week they should really turn on after this cold front passes through... Good luck it won't be long now Quote
Redtail Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Craig You are posting some incredible days on the water with huge fish - Nice Job! I always look forward to your posts! Quote
Gotta Love It Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Looks like you will make an excellent guide!!! Will you give discounts to BR members? Just in case I ever make it to your neck of the woods? Quote

craigaria Posted March 6, 2007 Author Posted March 6, 2007 I taught him everything he knows.. ;D Actually, when Ryan and I met last summer, we put our heads together and shared our knowledge on this lake. We learned each others favorite spots and techniques, and this has helped both of us considerably! Also a little credit to my buddy Kenny, who taught me the ways of live bait. This alone made last month one of my best months ever as far as numbers of big fish caught Quote
fezkoe Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Sounds like a pretty good day. Have some nice fish there. But even if you didn't get paid, who knows, maybe they will recomend you after such a good day. Quote
Kenny Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Hey buddy, nice fish! Can't wait til this weekend! It was a tough bite last week on Oconee, Saterday and Lanier on Sunday with 30 mph winds all day long. We did manage to boat some fish though, with the biggest about 3.5 lbs., all spots. Man, Oconee was chocolate milk after all that rain. They had a huge tourney out of Sugar creek, with most people zeroing or only having one or two short fish. Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Very nice fish! Looks like you did good. It's always nice to see someone's face light up when they catch a big one. Quote
craigaria Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 Hey buddy, nice fish! Can't wait til this weekend! Man, Oconee was chocolate milk after all that rain. They had a huge tourney out of Sugar creek, with most people zeroing or only having one or two short fish. I'll call you tomorrow so we can decide where we are going to fish... I went to Oconee today and it was still very muddy by sugar creek, it wasn't as bad near the dam, but still very stained. I have never seen so many seagulls. There was a huge tourny going on there today, I had to leave early so I didn't get caught up on the boat ramp at the weigh in. I talked to a couple guys and they said it was slow. I think the muddy water has the fish messed up... Quote
