Fishin49er Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Had my first club tournament this past Sunday on Lake Wylie. Air temps were in the mid 40's with a pouring rain 80% of the day. My boater actually lives on the lake and has a lot of knowledge of it. We fished a lot of rocky points and flats and also a lot of boat docks. We never really put anything together, so needless to say I zeroed and my boater only caught one. The winning weight was around 9lbs. Even with the weather conditions and no fish I love fishing these club tournaments. Quote
Fishin49er Posted February 27, 2007 Author Posted February 27, 2007 Oh and I threw a spinnerbait and a rat l trap on the points and around the docks since the fish were feeding heavily on shad. I also skipped a senko around the docks. I actually started the day throwing a jerkbait but didn't for very long, in hindsight I should have gave that a better chance. But hey you know what they say about hindsight. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted February 27, 2007 Super User Posted February 27, 2007 If they were feeding on shad you should of given the jerkbait a chance but i'm sure you'll have better luck next time! Quote
Thefishy1 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Our club had a tournament on lake Murray on the 17th and the air temp was 20 and the water was about 45. the winning weight was 21 lbs on a pj's football jig in 35-40 feet of water on points. I caught 5 fish on a dropshot for 8lbs even and my boater caught 11lbs on crankbaits and a dropshot Quote
Guest avid Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 But hey you know what they say about hindsight Yes, but it's kind of clinical. It's when your optic nerve is attached to your rectum. Gives a person a crappy outlook on life. cure = optirectomy. I've had two (so far) Quote
