Well, fished my first tournament as the man running the boat today.  My partner was Rose_Jacket from here on the site.  We fished the HVBA tourny at Varner.  Weather was really weird, frost first thing this morning, then the sun came out, the it went away and the wind kicked up, then the sun came out again, and the wind really was blowing...

I picked up a 2.5 lb fish on my 5th or 6th cast using a jig and a 10.5 zoom monster worm.  About 1 1/2 hrs. later I picked up another fish on the same bait, that was identical in weight but was short and real fat.   Will have pics after Adam sends them to me.   Those were the only two fish we caught.  15 or 16 lbs. won the event, and there was one nice 8 + lb. fish weighed that I believe won big fish.  There was right at 30 boats.

Only 3 limits were caught that I saw.  Rough day on Lake Varner for sure.  Can not wait till the 2 day event in April on Varner....

At least you got on the water today.  It was 37 degrees here today with thunderstorms.  My first tournament is March 11 and I will probably have to have my long johns and insulated coveralls on but can hardly wait.

Doghouse,

At least you were in the money.... and caught five,, Adam and I considered ourselves lucky, but then we both fish Varner quite a bit...  I was really shocked that we caught more than  70% of the field.   Looking forward to seeing you guys at Hard Labor, and the other lakes...
