what to do if your top water frog gets head butted? I got a couple guys tell me that its because they don't like the color but I'm not sure why would that matter.

I'm just wondering to see if anyone else had this happen to them too

and i can't never land a fish with the Spro frog, any suggestions

Change up the color. I've heard the same thing about crankbaits, if they're swiping at your bait, they don't like the color.

How an where are you useing it.

Open water, near banks, lily pads, retrieves. etc etc

memo

on top of weeds because i fish from shore, my retrieves are usually fast consist of a 3-5 light jerks with 5-10 second pause's

Actually, when fishing frogs on weeds and the fish keep missing the bait, I'll put on a heavier frog. They seem to commit more to the bigger frog.

Changing your color may work, but I would probably try to change the retrieve speed. When fish aren't completely commiting to your bait, it means your on the right track, but something is not quite right. Changing your retreive speed can sometimes work. Also, try walking the frog rather than bobbing it straight, or if your walking it, try bobbing it. Another thing to try with frogs is trim the legs. Alot of times a frog with legs to long will make it so fish that aren't commiting completely will hit the long legs rather than the head. That's not a good thing.

As far as bad hookups, the biggest thing is waiting.  If the fish are committed to to the frog, then you should land most of them.  The Spro Bronzeye is the softest frog on the market and compresses perfectly every time.  Most people think frog hook ups are bad, but its really just because it's hard to find fish that actually eat the bait rather than try to kill it.  Try braid to.  It helps alot.

So anyway, change color, retrieve, cadence, and trim up those legs. Hopefully that will work for you. Goodluck dude!

Get yourself a scumfrog and your hook up ratio will greatly increase.. trust me, I been there done that. Remember to give the fish a good 3secs with the bait in his mouth before you give the hookset.

throw a jig back into the holes and yoyo it.. might take a few casts.  also lighter jigs like a 1/4 oz can be worked like a frog over pads pretty efficiently and the hookup ratio i think is a little better

when i miss a frog fish i will throw a jig right back into the hole he it it in idk why they eat the jig almost immediately but they do. some times i will throw a light eighth ounce jig acrosss the pads and drag that as soon as they hit i will pause it and let the bait sink down and have caught alot of fish that way.

x2

I have found that I used to set the hook too soon.,.I let the fish go with it

for a few seconds then set it hard !!!
