memo43 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Just out of curiosity. I was wondering if everyone can post pictures of there tackle boxes. The reason I bright this up is because I think the "Bait Monkey" keeps smacking me. I fish from banks, an don't wanna lug around a suit case for my takle box. Ideas suggestions or pepper spray, ;D ;D memo Quote
Certified Public Angler Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I fish from the shore a lot. When I do I carry a small drawstring bag that is worn like a backpack. I put inside of it: a 1 gallon ziploc that contains all kinds of plastic worms, lizards, senkos etc. 1 of those plastic snap boxes that I put in select treble lures and hooks and leads in. My scale in a ziploc w/fishing license My camera in a ziploc a tape measure and usually a water and my pliers and scissors go in each of my pockets. This all fits in this bag nice and is easily worn comfortably while I walk the shoreline. I usually bring two rods to walk the shore with. My actual tacklebox is the 7$ version at wal-mart and has 2 trays that fold out when opened. It is getting pretty full, after you are done with that pepper spray let me borrow it. Quote
Branuss04 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Which one you want a pic off? Most people on this board have numerous bags. I take two with me, one is the Falcon V6 bag. And the other other is the BPS Extreme Backpack. I use the backpack for banking it and then i'll use both when i'm in the boat. Love both of them Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Sugggestions you say, I fish from the bank 99% of the time and I use a fishing vest. Lets you fit a plano of hardbaits etc in the back pocket, which I usually fill the plano with every spinnerbait, topwater, hard jerkbait and any other hardbaits I plan to use that day. It also has 4 main pockets that will fit a good 5-7 bags of soft plastics each. I just pick a bunch of soft plastics I want to use for that day, relating to conditions cover etc of the lake I plan to fish. It also has 2 "Medium small" size pockets that you can fit a can of scent into, or anything else you like. There are a 4 small pockets that will fit hooks, weights, and other small stuff into em, and lastly there are a few pockets on the inner side of the vest that you can shove bobbers or w/e else you like into. Most vests I have found come with about the same general idea of pockets. Just try to find one that comes with a good big back pocket where you can fit a plano into. Also check if they have a bunch of pockets, mainly to fit bags of soft plastics (like 4 pockets for soft plastics). I find many vests to have great numbers of pockets, so this shouldn't be difficult. Most important thing is that it has a good large back pocket to fit a plano, and a bottle of water I throw in there on occasion . Quote

I did the gallon size freezer zip lock bag, and put a mix of plastic into it. The finesse worms "melted" or disintegrated and some of the different colors bled into each other. The chartreuse worms absorbed some of the pumpkin color from those in contact. I should have tried the worms with the color blends. They may have been the next "best thing". Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted September 26, 2008 Super User Posted September 26, 2008 When I bank fish I put plastic boxes in a 5 gallon bucket along with pliers and other necessities. That way I even have a chair if I want to sit down. Quote

Joel W Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I rarely fish from shore. However, being a certified NYS "Reservoir Rat" I have to carry from the road down to anyone of 5 boats on different reservors all my gear including oars and a anchor. I use a tackle bag that holds 6 full size 3700 boxes, tools, maps, and licenses. I use a standard milk crate with a shoulder strap to carry my depthfinder, spare boat tools & oarlocks, rain gear, a pair of torpedo tubes (each hold 3 rods with clamps that attach to the side of the rowboat), a lunch box, and of course 2 bundles of setups. It usually takes me 3 trips back and forth. And these trips are down small paths through woods and brush. The few times I shore fish, I get it down to no more then 3 setups, a small tackle bag that holds 4 1/2 size 3600 boxes. Quote

I don't mix the packages together, inside the gallon bag are probably 10 separate bags of different brands all in there original package. This prevents the blending of colors. I haven't had any melt yet... Quote
fishizzle Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 some people have a 21' tacklebox but mine is more modest Being a non boater a small bag is appreciated as to not clutter someone elses boat Mine is 12"x14" x14" Quote
kikstand454 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 well... i had trouble with "real" tackl bags falling apart, so i went to home depot and saw that they had a deal on two husky tool bags for 15 dollars. the next time i went i brought a 3700 box with me and it fit in the larger bag. i bought the tool bags and found that i could get three 3700's and a small box in the big bag and 3 3600's annd a small box in the small bag. also both of them had pockets inside and all around, plus heavy duty stitching and zippers annd straps. they are indestructible for what im using them for. they hold more than enough stuff...alot of tackle and my scale and scents and bugspray and a towel. also... i use a waterproof disposable camera that i leave in the big bag. that way its always with me and it wont mess up. then of course i have the same setup for my saltwater stuff....... ;D Quote
thetr20one Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 My boat has storage boxes designed to fit 3700 size boxes. When I fish from another boat I have a plano bag that I put a few boxes of tackle I expect to use in and, the exterior pockets are filled with extra hooks, line and other little items. When I fish from shore I take only what I can fit in my cargo shorts. Quote
buckmanjr Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 When I fish from shore, I use a backpack. A couple plano box's, a couple bags of plastics, camera, and pliers all fit in it. I keep it on my back all the time while fishing and I am able to walk around the pond casting. Works out great Quote
32251 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 When I walk around a pond, I carry a small Case Logic shoulder bag I bought at a yard sale for .50. You see them all the time. They were for small electronic devices. Two zipper sections and a mesh cover on the front that you can also slip something into. Maybe 7"X7". I keep a larger box in the car and if I need something I can walk back to the car. That little bag is very handy and it has served me well. A baggie full of worms, some hooks, sinkers, beads. knife, small forceps and a few lures. Anything heavier/bigger will just get in the way and tire you out while walking. Quote

I normally use a duffle bag that fits Plano boxes perfectly but doesn't hold up more than a year or two before the lining is torn out inside. That doesn't effect the overall bag for hauling the boxes around but it makes it so when I take a couple out the ones on the end pockets that have to stand up vertically can fall over and I end up having to remove them all in order to put them all back again. Normal tackle bags cost a lot more than this bag does and many aren't set up like I like so that's why I never used them. You might have the ultimate set up going with your system and I never thought of that at all. Quote

adclem Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I use the BPS 360 bag and the double zipper binder for my plastics. It is an awesome combination and very easy to carry with me weather fishing from the bank or boat. I also added a couple falcon boxes for my hooks and waits and my buzz baits. Later, Quote

guitarkid Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 When bank fishing I use my army issued assault pack. Gotta love a job that issues you free outdoor gear! Awesome rain and cold weather gear too! I use the older one called the MOLLE I think, a buddy of mine retired from the Marine Corps and gave it to me. Holds almost everything you could ever want, at least while bank fishing. -tumnus Quote
