Super User Jig Man Posted September 23, 2008 Super User Posted September 23, 2008 The best that I have ever used is Bass Pro 100 mph gortex. It is the only stuff I have ever been able to keep dry wearing. It is not for warm weather wear by the way. They must be changing styles because I saw some in the catalog store at 1/2 price yesterday. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 23, 2008 Super User Posted September 23, 2008 Cabela's Guideware is THE BOMB! I have the uninsulated package which, with long johns and layering, is good to go 30-65 degrees. You can depend on this rain gear to be 100% waterproof and will last for years, maybe decades! http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/common/search/search-results1.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&hasJS=true&_D%3AhasJS=+&%2Fcabelas%2Fcommerce%2FCabelasCatalogNumberFinder.giftCertificateURL=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Ftemplates%2Fgiftcertificate%2Fgiftcertificate.jsp%3Fid%3D0005586990011a%26podId%3D0005586%26catalogCode%3DIB%26navAction%3Djump%26indexId%3D&_D%3A%2Fcabelas%2Fcommerce%2FCabelasCatalogNumberFinder.giftCertificateURL=+&sort=all&QueryText=guide+wear&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&Go.x=17&Go.y=8 8-) Quote
fishinfergy Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 frog toggs are terrible, the bass pro shops stuff is nice Quote
gabes Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I have had Bass Pro 100MPH for 5 or 6 years and they have performed very well. You can always catch them on sale around the end of February thru the first of April. Usually 25-30% off. Quote
Bassyak Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I disagree with the comment on Frogg Toggs. I've had a set now for about 5 years or so, and have never gotten wet while wearing them. I've tried rubber, PVC, and nylon rain suits and while most of them kept me pretty dry, they were stifling to wear when it was warmer than 70F outside. The Frogg Toggs breathe with the slightest breeze and keep me comfortable when its 90+ degrees and raining and I don't feel like getting drenched. And if it's colder out, they are roomy enough to wear over my regular cold weather gear. Definitely not a bad product for the price. Quote
Jeremy D. Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I agree with bassyak, I love my Toggs!!! Very breathable to! Quote
brgbassmaster Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 i love gortex stuff idk how expensive they are since the airforce pays for mine..but i do suggest them. thats all i wear in the rain. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted September 24, 2008 Super User Posted September 24, 2008 Frog toggs are good for the boat or bank, but will tear easily in the woods if snagged on a branch. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted September 24, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted September 24, 2008 I got frogg toggs for xmas and they are the best. Lightweight and breathable. You can were them in a Fl summer storm and not be wet from sweat. Quote
ssaB_htuoM_egraL Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 One vote for the TOGGS here. X2 Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 My wife gave me a set of Columbia's about ten years ago. They are still performing flawlessly. Falcon Quote
Rand Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Dropped some cheddar on Cabela's Guidewear. Can't wait to fish in the rain. Does that sound weird? Thanks for all the input Rand Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I agree with bassyak, I love my Toggs!!! Very breathable to! Have a Gore-Tex experience and that will change real quick North Face, all day-every day. When it comes to rain gear, there's no skimping. If you are uncomfortable or wet, you won't want to fish. I fish in every wet condition possible so I only use the best. The Cabela's guide wear is a great value too. A bit bulky for my taste (being thin, I prefer a fitted garment) but you can't beat the bang for your buck. Frogg toggs or anything made with pvc,...not for me. Quote
